About us
Formed in 1917, The Queen Elizabeth Centre (QEC) is Victoria's largest provider of Residential, Community and Home-based early parenting services for families with children from birth to four years of age.
With our Residential Early Parenting Centre in Noble Park and Community home-based services across Victoria, we play a special role in providing parenting education and support to thousands of families every year to give their children the best start in life. Our programs are research-informed and tailored to meet the unique needs of each family and enable families to nurture, protect and enhance their children's safety, health and development.
We are very proud to have been rated within the Victorian Public Sector as being one of the five best performing health services in the state for workplace culture, rated by our employees in 2023. We have a supportive, inclusive team culture with a strong connection to our core purpose to enable children to thrive, so QEC really is a truly rewarding and fulfilling place to work.
The role
We are keen to hear from Maternal Child Health Nurse professionals with a passion for the work we do. You will provide specialised support, care and education to enhance families' parenting competencies. You will be responsible for improving parents' knowledge, skills and attitudes as well as building the ability of parents to meet their children's health, safety and developmental needs.
The MCH Nurse EPC Development program is a part time (0.5 FTE) 24-week program offered to Maternal and Child Health nurses (Victorian registration) who are interested in engaging in a varied and dynamic learning program. The MCH Nurse EPC Development Program offers rotations over four clinical programs offered at QEC: Five-day Residential (including Telehealth) program, Day Stay,
Residential Parenting Assessment and Skills Development Service (PASDS), and Assessment and Intake. Our programs run from both our Noble Park and Hastings sites. We are open to successful applicants working at one or both sites.
The program involves active participation by the participant engaging in learning, reflective practice and supervision. The participant must set goals for each rotation and work towards achieving these goals in partnership with their clinical mentor. The participant is required to share their Maternal and Child Health nursing experience with QEC Clinicians. At the end of the program the participant is expected to participate in an evaluation process to assist in continual quality improvement.
