About this opportunity

Collection Management and Research:

- Numbering objects coming into the collection
- Entering information in the collection catalogue
- Undertaking research on specific objects
- Assisting with significance assessment research for individual objects
- Assist the Collection Management and Research Volunteer Manager in undertaking basic conservation assessments and notifying management committee when a professional is needed

Curatorial and Exhibitions:

- Assist tours of the museum when needed
- Respond to enquiries from visitors
- Ensure displays are clean and in good repair
- Assist with the installation and dismantling of exhibitions
- Participate in the acquisition of new objects for the collection
- Assist the Curatorial and Exhibitions Volunteer Manager to identify ways to creatively enhance current displays

Exhibitions Maintenance and Repair:

- Work under direction from the Exhibitions Maintenance and Repair Manager to create new exhibitions and public programs
- Participate in the installation and dismantling of exhibitions
- Ensure displays are well maintained and are clean and safe

General Duties:





- Maintain a friendly and approachable attitude towards customers, fellow volunteers, and staff and a clean and qualified appearance
- Respect all equipment and museum property and use with care to avoid unnecessary damage
- Undertake the responsibilities of the position adhering to:
