Synergie Australia is seeking an ASO5 Taxation Accountant for a trusted Government client located in Port Adelaide.

The important parts:

- Pay: $40–$55 per hour + Super | Duration: 3-month contract (potential for extension)
- Police clearance: Current National Police Clearance required

What you will be required to do:

As the Taxation Accountant, you will:

- Prepare and review complex GST, FBT and Payroll Tax returns
- Produce supporting working papers, reconciliations and briefing materials
- Liaise with government client agencies and taxation authorities
- Analyse financial information and investigate taxation discrepancies
- Provide accurate advice on taxation legislation, rulings and case law
- Support employees responsible for delivering professional taxation services
- Identify training requirements relating to taxation compliance
- Research legislative and regulatory changes and communicate their impact
- Contribute to the development of taxation policies and procedures
- Support compliance across government financial systems and processes
- Undertake quality assurance, risk management and continuous improvement work
- Build productive working relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Maintain complete and accurate business records
- Deliver services in accordance with agreed performance measures and legislative requirements

To be successful in the role you will:

- Experience preparing complex taxation returns
- Sound working knowledge of GST, FBT and Payroll Tax requirements
- Experience preparing reconciliations and analysing financial data
- The ability to interpret taxation legislation, rulings and governance frameworks
- Experience providing complex taxation advice
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work collaboratively with clients and stakeholders




- Excellent planning, organisation and prioritisation skills
- The ability to manage competing deadlines in a demanding environment
- A adaptable and adaptable approach to changing requirements
- Experience identifying and implementing financial process improvements
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for reporting, modelling and reconciliations
- Experience using financial management and taxation applications

Experience with systems such as Masterpiece, Oracle or OneSource would be highly regarded.
