Stop Staring Boutique is an established luxury women’s consignment boutique in South Yarra. Since 2014, we have helped customers discover carefully curated pre-owned designer fashion, handbags, footwear and accessories in a welcoming and personalised boutique environment.

We are seeking a reliable, polished and commercially minded Sales Associate who genuinely enjoys engaging with customers and helping them find pieces that suit their style, needs and lifestyle.

This is a hands-on shop-floor sales position suited to someone seeking an ongoing role in a small, independently owned boutique. The successful applicant must be comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for opening or closing the store when required.

Key responsibilities

- Warmly acknowledge every customer entering and leaving the boutique.
- Proactively approach customers and identify their needs.
- Provide considered styling and product recommendations.
- Build customer trust and develop ongoing client relationships.
- Confidently sell designer clothing, handbags, footwear and accessories.
- Work towards individual and store sales targets.
- Encourage appropriate complementary purchases without pressuring customers.
- Maintain a polished, welcoming and commercially presented shop floor.
- Merchandise new stock and refresh displays and mannequins.
- Process sales, returns and other transactions accurately.
- Follow established procedures for stock handling and sales recording.
- Assist with steaming, tagging, organising and presenting merchandise.
- Maintain cleanliness and complete routine daily store duties.




- Undertake opening, closing and security procedures.
- Work independently and take ownership of the boutique during rostered shifts.
- Communicate clearly with the owner and other team members.

About you

You will ideally have:

- Proven experience in fashion, accessories, beauty, jewellery, bridal, premium retail or another customer-focused sales environment.
- A genuine ability to initiate conversations and convert customer interest into sales.
- A warm, approachable and confident manner.
- Professional personal presentation appropriate for a luxury boutique.
- Strong reliability, punctuality and attention to detail.
- The maturity to work independently without constant supervision.
- Confidence handling valuable merchandise and customer transactions.
- An appreciation of designer fashion and personal styling.
- A secure employment history and a genuine interest in an ongoing position.
- Availability to commit to agreed fixed rostered days.
- Experience as a key holder or with opening and closing procedures, although training can be provided.

Luxury retail experience is desirable but not essential. Strong sales ability, reliability and the right customer manner are more important than knowledge of every designer label.

Role boundaries

This position is focused on shop-floor sales, customer service,



styling, merchandising and routine boutique operations.

The boutique owner retains responsibility for:

- Selecting items for consignment.
- Authenticating merchandise.
- Setting and approving prices.
- Managing consignor relationships and final business decisions.

Photography, videography and social-media content creation are not core requirements of this position.

Employment details

- Part-time position.
- Up to five rostered shifts per week, subject to agreed availability.
- South Yarra location.
- Hourly remuneration based on experience and the applicable retail award.
- Superannuation and applicable penalty rates provided.
- Potential eligibility for the boutique’s sales-performance incentive scheme.
- Ongoing employment is available for the right person.

Pay: $27.81 – $34.76 per hour

Expected hours: 19.5 – 31.0 per week
