Female Disability Support Worker - Cowes, VIC (Child-Focused Support)

Tarra Care Disability Services is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and reliable Female Disability Support Worker to support a 12-year-old NDIS participant with Level 3 Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Cowes, Victoria.

About the Role

We are looking for a support worker with experience supporting children with Level 3 Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), who is non-verbal and requires high levels of support across daily activities,self care, communication, and community participation. The successful applicant will provide person-centred, child-focused support that promotes safety, skill development, emotional regulation, social engagement, and independence.

The ideal candidate will be patient, resilient, positive, and confident working within structured routines and behavioural support strategies.

Key Responsibilities

- Providing one-on-one support to a 12-year-old participant
- Assisting with personal care, self-care, and toileting support in a respectful and dignified manner
- Supporting community access and social participation
- Assisting with recreational and age-appropriate activities
- Implementing behaviour support strategies and positive behaviour supports
- Supporting emotional regulation and transitions between activities
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and engagement
- Following support plans
- Maintaining professional documentation and progress notes
- Ensuring participant safety and wellbeing at all times

Essential Requirements

Applicants must have:

- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate




- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
- National Police Check
- Current Driver's Licence
- Reliable and registered vehicle
- Comprehensive Vehicle Insurance
- Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- Australian Working Rights

Essential Experience

- Experience supporting children with Level 3 Autism
- Experience managing challenging behaviours
- Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support approaches
- Ability to remain calm and responsive in challenging situations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build trust and rapport with children and families
- Experience implementing structured routines and sensory supports
- Understanding of safeguarding, duty of care, and child-safe practices

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, Education Support, or related field
- Autism-specific training
- Mental Health First Aid
- Experience implementing Behaviour Support Plans
- Experience working within the NDIS sector
- Understanding of sensory processing and emotional regulation strategies
