Hagen’s Organics is looking for a casual cook to join our East Brunswick store. This location runs a hot food takeaway menu built around our organic meat we are known for.
In this hands-on role, you’ll help maintain high food standards and keep service running smoothly in a fast-paced retail food setting. You’ll put your kitchen skills to work on our menu items and follow strict HACCP procedures. It’s a great fit for a junior cook looking to sharpen the basics in a lower-pressure setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the kitchen and butchery team to help execute a menu of hot food options using the finest organic ingredients available.
- Work closely with our butcher team to help produce menu items using a “head to tail” approach.
- Support senior kitchen staff with high-volume food production to meet production schedules.
- Keep the kitchen clean and organised, strictly adhering to food safety and sanitation standards, with close attention to the maintenance schedule for key kitchen equipment.
- Follow training schedules set by senior management to build competency across all basic kitchen tasks.
- Work with the retail team to support product knowledge and customer enquiries.
- Assist with front-of-house duties as required.
What We’re Looking For
- 1+ year experience as a cook in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Available to work weekends.
- A passion for cooking and a commitment to high-quality, ethically sourced ingredients.
- Commercially minded — focused on minimising wastage and maximising output.
- Open to contributing ideas on menu development.
- Able to work diligently and reliably, both independently and as part of a team, with good communication skills.
- Able to follow established standard operating procedures closely.
- A problem-solver who can take initiative and make sound decisions.
- Solid knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
