Deakin Dental Care is a privately owned general dental practice offering all facets of general dentistry, include implant placements and treatment under IV sedation.

We are looking for our next amazing Dental Assistant to join our friendly team.

About the role:

- This is not your average dental assisting role - yes, there will be chairside assisting for routine appointments but the practice also holds a health facility license enabling us to perform treatment under IV sedation in the practice. Two of our dentists also hold operating rights at a local hospital where treatment is completed under general anaesthetic. There is definitely a lot of chance to see and do a lot more than general dental assisting and we are willing to train the right person in these areas.
- The opportunity to assist with surgical procedures such as wisdom teeth extractions and implant placement.
- Steralisation and reprocessing of all instruments, following ACT Health and the practice's Infection Control guidelines.
- Assisting with reception as needed.
- Working alongside a team of dental assistants to support and achieve common goals.
- Flexibility with days and hours - ideally we are looking for someone 3-5 days per week 8-5pm, but for the right person there is some flexibility.
- Free parking and easy access to public transport.

About you:

- Ideally,



at least 2 years experience but we are willing to train the right person.
- Be reliable - we are a small, close knit team that works together, we are looking for someone to become part of this team and understand that you play a vital part in the day to day running of the practice.
- Be willing to get in and help. We are a busy practice but we have lovely patients and a team that does support one another, you need to be able and willing to do the same.
- Having an understanding of stock control and ordering processes.
- Be aware of, or be able to learn, and adhere to infection control policies and procedures.
- Want to learn and grow in the role - there is opportunity to upskill in more complex dental procedures and medical emergencies as well as assist in a hospital setting.
- Be resilient.
- Be able to build a rapport with our patients - our patients are long term patients and look for a connection with our assistants.
- Be able to comfort and support nervous patients.

The role is available from early November and we are interviewing as resumes are sent through. Pay rate is between $28-$32 an hour but is negotiable for the right person.
