​About Chill Cafe, Ayr, Qld

Chill Cafe is a popular dining spot located on Queen Street in Ayr. Known for our welcoming atmosphere, excellent coffee, and fresh food, we serve a busy mix of dine-in guests and drive-thru customers. From morning smashed avo and eggs Benedict to gourmet lunch burgers and fresh salad bowls, we take pride in top-tier local hospitality.

​We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, hands-on Head Chef to take full ownership of our kitchen operations, mentor our team, and keep our menu fresh and exciting.

​Key Responsibilities:

- ​Oversee daily kitchen preparation and service for high-volume breakfast and lunch shifts.
- ​Maintain quick ticket times, high quality presentation, and consistent flavour across all dishes.
- ​Develop daily specials using seasonal, regional Queensland produce.
- ​Manage stock ordering, supplier relationships, inventory, and food cost margins to minimise waste.
- ​Ensure strict compliance with Australian Food Standards, HACCP, allergen safety, and kitchen hygiene.




- ​Lead, train, and roster kitchen team members, fostering a positive work culture.

​Key Requirements:

- ​Experience: Proven track record as a Head Chef, Senior Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager in a high-volume cafe or casual dining environment.
- ​Qualifications: Certificate III / IV in Commercial Cookery and a current Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) certificate.
- ​Skills: Strong understanding of menu costing, inventory management, and kitchen safety protocols.
- ​Pace: Ability to thrive under pressure during peak morning and lunchtime rushes while keeping the pass calm and organised.
