We’re opening a new Sage x Clare flagship store on Gertrude Street in Fitzroy, and we’re looking for Casual Retail Assistants to join our team.

With space to showcase our full range, our recent store will be a place to explore, discover and find inspiration. You’ll help bring that experience to life, welcoming customers, sharing your product knowledge and helping them find pieces they’ll love taking home.

This is a hands-on role with plenty of variety. Alongside customer service and sales, you’ll help keep the store looking beautiful, replenish displays, unpack deliveries and process purchases. You’ll enjoy getting to know our collections and sharing the details that make each piece special.

You’ll be joining a new team from the beginning, working alongside our Store Manager and 2IC to get the store ready and welcome our first customers through the doors.

Whether you’ve worked in homewares before or bring great customer service experience from another retail environment, we’d love to hear from you.

About You

You’re warm, approachable and naturally helpful. You enjoy talking with people, take pride in doing things well and are happy to jump in wherever the team needs a hand.

You’ll bring:

- Experience in retail or a customer-facing role
- A thoughtful approach to customer service and confidence starting conversations
- An interest in homewares, interiors, colour and styling
- A positive, proactive approach and willingness to learn
- Good attention to detail and pride in store presentation
- The ability to stay organised and work collaboratively during busy periods
- Availability for shifts across the week, including weekends

Bonus points if you have:

- Experience in homewares,



lifestyle or fashion retail
- Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling and stock replenishment
- An eye for styling and putting products together
- Helped open a new store

You’re someone who takes accountability, brings creative ideas and aims for excellence. You value working as a team, can adapt when priorities change, and help create a welcoming space where people feel they belong.

The details

These are casual positions based at our new Fitzroy store, with shifts offered according to trading needs and your availability.

Planned trading hours are 10 am–6 pm Monday to Saturday and 10 am–5 pm Sunday. Shifts may also include time before opening or after closing for store preparation, deliveries and closing routines.

We’re looking for a mix of availability across weekdays and weekends. Please let us know the days and times you can regularly work, along with your availability over the Christmas and summer trading period.
