McMahon Services is delivering major civil works as part of one of South Australia’s most significant infrastructure projects, and we’re looking for an experienced Site Supervisor to join our Civil & Infrastructure team.
With works underway and a long-term delivery program ahead, this is an opportunity to take ownership of day-to-day site delivery within a complex and fast-moving construction environment.
While civil utilities experience will be highly regarded, it isn’t essential. We’re also interested in experienced Civil Supervisors who have led crews and subcontractors across earthworks, drainage, roads or broader infrastructure projects and have the practical construction knowledge to step into this environment.
We’re looking for someone who communicates well, thinks on their feet and knows how to bring people together to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality outcomes.
About McMahon Services
McMahon Services is one of Australia’s largest privately owned construction, industrial and environmental services organisations, employing more than 1,300 people across Australia.
Our Civil & Infrastructure team delivers projects across earthworks, roads, drainage, utilities and complex infrastructure, supported by experienced project and construction professionals.
We’re proud of the projects we deliver, but equally proud of the people behind them. We invest in our people, provide opportunities to take on greater responsibility and support long-term career development across our business.
About the Role
Reporting to the Site Manager and working closely with the wider project team, you’ll oversee day-to-day civil construction activities, coordinating crews, subcontractors, plant and project interfaces.
The project includes significant water, sewer, stormwater and underground services works, so previous utilities experience would be valuable; however, we’re open to strong civil construction leaders who bring transferable experience from other complex infrastructure environments.
You’ll be responsible for keeping works moving safely and efficiently, monitoring short-term programmes and ensuring communication flows between site teams, subcontractors and project leadership.
What You’ll Do
- Supervise day-to-day civil construction activities and work fronts.
- Coordinate crews, subcontractors, plant, equipment and site activities.
- Support the delivery of water, sewer, drainage and underground services works.
- Work closely with the Site Manager and project team to plan upcoming activities.
- Monitor progress, productivity, quality and short-term programme requirements.
- Lead pre-starts, toolbox meetings and site safety activities.
- Drive WHS, environmental and quality requirements across your work areas.
- Maintain accurate site diaries, reporting and project records.
- Review and support SWMS, risk assessments and site controls.
- Coordinate activities around live services, public interfaces and other project constraints.
- Identify and escalate delays, variations, risks and potential EOTs.
- Build strong working relationships with subcontractors, project teams and stakeholders.
- Lead from the front and help maintain a positive, safety-focused site culture.
What You’ll Bring
- Previous experience as a Site Supervisor, Civil Supervisor, Foreman or similar construction leadership role.
- Strong experience within civil construction or infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate crews, subcontractors, plant and site activities.
- Good practical understanding of civil construction methodologies and sequencing.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and project documentation.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Practical problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.
- Solid safety focus and understanding of site-based risk controls.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to identify and escalate risks, delays and opportunities.
- Current Driver’s Licence and Construction White Card.
- Ability to meet relevant project and site access requirements.
- A positive, reliable and team-focused approach.
What Will Set You Apart
- Previous experience delivering or supervising civil utilities works, including water, sewer, stormwater or underground services.
- Experience working around live services and complex project interfaces.
- Experience across major infrastructure projects.
- Strong bulk earthworks, drainage or road construction experience.
- Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and work fronts.
- Previous experience working within live or high-risk construction environments.
- Additional civil construction tickets or qualifications.
- A strong track record of developing and supporting people on site.
