About Us

Susuru Izakaya is a traditional Japanese ramen restaurant in Newcastle CBD that has recently been renovated and relaunched as a Japanese izakaya.

We specialise in authentic Japanese food, including house-made ramen broth and Japanese gyoza, which we produce at our own factory.

We pride ourselves on creating a friendly, supportive, and positive working environment where team members can develop their cooking skills, gain valuable industry experience, and learn about Japanese cuisine.

Our diverse team includes people from a range of cultural backgrounds, including international students, making Susuru a great place to work, learn, and share different cultures.

About the Role

We are looking for motivated and reliable Casual Cooks / Kitchen Hands to join our team, with an immediate start available.

We welcome team members who take pride in their work, maintain high standards, and enjoy working in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Successful candidates must be versatile and available to work across a rotating roster, including weekends, public holidays, and split shifts where required.

What We're Looking For





- At least one year of experience in a similar kitchen role.

- Confidence working in a busy restaurant environment.

- Availability for approximately 15–25 hours per week, including weekends and split shifts.

- A good understanding of food safety, hygiene, and cleaning procedures.

- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.

- An interest in Japanese food and culture.

- The ability to work well as part of a diverse team.
