Business Development Manager / Technical Sales Trainee – Power Transmission & Industrial Products

The Prospect
My client is an established supplier of power transmission and industrial products, supporting customers across manufacturing, engineering, mining and other industrial sectors.
They are looking for a Business Development Manager or Technical Sales Trainee to join their Sydney branch, supporting existing customer relationships while identifying opportunities to grow the business.
This is a customer-facing role involving technical product enquiries, relationship management and business development.
The business is open to both experienced industrial sales professionals and developing candidates with strong technical aptitude, a customer-focused attitude and a genuine willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective industrial customers
Identify new business opportunities and support the growth of customer accounts
Understand customer applications and recommend suitable product solutions
Promote power transmission and related industrial equipment
Respond to customer enquiries and follow up sales opportunities
Work closely with internal sales and technical teams to support customer requirements
Develop product knowledge and understand different industrial applications
Maintain regular communication with customers and provide reliable follow-up
Support the continued growth of the Sydney branch
About You
Experience in business development, account management,



technical sales or a related customer-facing role
Exposure to bearings, gearboxes, power transmission or related industrial products preferred
Mechanical, engineering or industrial product knowledge advantageous
Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
Genuine interest in technical problem-solving and understanding how products work
Confidence communicating with customers and identifying their requirements
Proactive attitude with a willingness to ask questions and learn
Good organisational skills and ability to manage customer enquiries
Self-motivated with an interest in developing a long-term career in technical sales
Candidates from internal sales, technical support, customer service, mechanical trades or engineering backgrounds who are looking to transition into external sales are also encouraged to apply.
Product training will be provided for developing candidates who demonstrate technical curiosity, a service-focused attitude and a genuine willingness to learn.
