Ipswich Roasters Pty Ltd is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our team in Ipswich, QLD.
This is a full-time position based at either The Old Butcher Shop Cafe, Sadliers Crossing, or The Elderflower Cafe in North Tivoli.
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our culinary operations, ensuring our kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently.
You will work alongside our experienced chefs and kitchen team to prepare, cook, and present food to the high standards our customers expect.
This role is essential to maintaining the quality and consistency of our food offerings whilst supporting the broader hospitality service we provide.This position includes weekend work.
We are flexible to offer 4-5 day work weeks.
Start 6:30am, finish by 2:15pm.Key responsibilitiesPreparing ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning vegetables, meats, and other food itemsAssisting chefs with the preparation and cooking of meals in accordance with recipes and food preparation standardsOperating kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including ovens, fryers, grills, and other cooking appliancesMaintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the kitchen, including sanitising work surfaces, utensils, and equipmentManaging stock levels and assisting with food storage to ensure ingredients remain fresh and organisedPlating and presenting dishes according to established standards before they are served to customersResponding to kitchen demands during service and assisting with order fulfilment in a timely mannerFollowing food safety and health and safety protocols at all timesSupporting the wider kitchen team to achieve daily operational targets and customer satisfaction goalsWhat we're looking forPrevious experience working in a kitchen environment, preferably in a hospitality or food service settingA solid understanding of food safety and hygiene practices, with relevant certification (such as a Food Safety Supervisor course) being highly desirableThe ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment, maintaining focus under pressureGood physical fitness and stamina, as the role involves prolonged periods of standing and repetitive tasksStrong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food preparation and presentationExcellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with chefs and kitchen staffReliability and punctuality, with the flexibility to adapt to kitchen schedules and peak service timesA genuine enthusiasm for hospitality and food preparationKnowledge of food storage procedures and inventory management is beneficialWhat we offerAt Ipswich Roasters Pty Ltd, we value our team members and are committed to creating a supportive and rewarding work workplace.
