Network Planning Engineers - 3 roles available: Engineer, Senior and PrincipalMelbourne | Electricity & Energy InfrastructureWe are seeking experienced Network Planning / Power Systems Engineers to join a major program supporting the future development of Victoria's electricity network. With opportunities available across Engineer, Senior and Principal levels, these roles will support significant network growth and investment driven by major new connections, including large-scale data centres and other high-demand customers. You'll play a key role in assessing future electricity demand, identifying network constraints and developing the distribution and sub-transmission solutions required to safely and reliably accommodate major new loads. The RoleWorking within the electricity and energy infrastructure sector, you'll undertake and contribute to network planning activities across distribution, sub-transmission, zone substation and upstream networks.Your responsibilities will include:Monitor and forecast network loading, utilisation and future capacity requirementsUndertake network modelling, load-flow and contingency analysisAssess the network impact of major new connections and large electrical loadsIdentify emerging network constraints, risks and capacity limitationsDevelop planning requirements for distribution and sub-transmission network augmentationAssess requirements for zone substations and upstream terminal station infrastructureDevelop and evaluate technically and economically viable network augmentation optionsApply appropriate risk assessment and management techniques to network planning decisionsPrepare and contribute to RIT-D and RIT-T assessments and reportsDevelop recommendations to support network investment and long-term planningWork closely with engineering, operations, connections,
asset management and other key stakeholdersProvide technical input and assurance across complex network planning and augmentation initiativesAbout YouWe're interested in speaking with engineers who have experience within an electricity utility, DNSP/TNSP, power systems consultancy or similar network setting.Your background may include:Electricity network planning or power systems planningDistribution and/or sub-transmission networksZone substations and terminal stationsLoad and demand forecastingNetwork loading and utilisation analysisLoad-flow, contingency and power system studiesNetwork capacity and constraint assessmentMajor customer or large-load connectionsNetwork augmentation and investment planningRisk assessment and network planning methodologiesRIT-D and/or RIT-T assessmentsNetwork modelling tools such as PSS/E, PowerFactory, SINCAL or similarAustralian electricity network standards and regulatory requirementsExperience specifically within data centres is advantageous but not essential.
Experience planning for other large customer connections, significant new loads or major network augmentation will also be highly relevant. Why Join?
This is an opportunity to contribute to significant electricity infrastructure planning associated with some of Victoria's largest emerging electricity demands. You'll work on complex network challenges spanning capacity, major connections, zone substations, sub-transmission and upstream augmentation, with the opportunity to contribute at a level aligned with your experience. We welcome applications from Network Planning Engineers, Power Systems Engineers, Distribution Planning Engineers, Network Development Engineers and other experienced electricity network professionals with relevant planning expertise.
