Sunset Vets | Palliative and End-of-Life Care Veterinarians | National Positions Available
Sunset Vets
is a nationwide network of like-minded Vets who are passionate about evidence-based palliative medicine and end-of-life care. With over a decade under our belts, delivering this very special type of care to families, we're growing and are regularly welcoming additional Vets to our team.
We're particularly looking for Vets to support our current team members in a couple of our busiest locations, being Brisbane and Canberra, but we're also always excited to connect with Vets from other regions across Australia who are drawn to this unique style of Veterinary medicine.
This gig is a little different to a traditional Veterinary role and will suit those looking for flexibility and work-life balance. If you have strong medicine skills, a desire to learn new things from a highly qualified, supportive team and are committed to delivering exceptional client care, we want to connect with you.
About Us:
Palliative care is a rapidly growing field of Veterinary medicine and Sunset Vets is commited to being at the forefront of it. As one of Australia's first dedicated palliative care teams, we continue to shape the development of this field through our training, palliative care conferences, and our work with colleagues overseas through the International Association of Animal Hospice and Palliative Care (IAAHPC).
Our team of mobile Vets provide home-based care focusing on pain and symptom management for patients, as well as quality-of-life guidance to ensure no pet is left too long.
We have a deep commitment to delivering the gentlest euthanasia experience possible for families and patients who need our help.
We have a proven commitment to working alongside and supporting a patient's Primary Care and Specialist Veterinary teams because we see our services as an adjunct, and not a replacement, to these key relationships. For this reason, we don't provide any routine or preventative care services; we work solely in the palliative care space.
Whilst you'll be working one on one with clients in their home, you'll be backed by our incredible Support team who coordinate your appointments, handle billing and administration, and emotionally care for patient families both before and after your visits. We work closely with Allied Health, as well as Psychologists and Counsellors to extend qualified grief services, allowing you to focus on what you're good at, while being part of a wider team delivering industry-leading care.
About the Job:
The role itself is flexible and is designed to fit in around family, everyday life, and/or another part-time clinical job. Our vets come from all walks of vet life, but GP and ER backgrounds seem to suit particularly well.
Set your own hours of availability, take your time with your patients, and remind yourself of why you love Vet medicine again by working with wonderful clients who will typically do anything for their pets.
Who We Need:
We're looking for Vets who are natural communicators who want to actively develop their clinical skills in end-of-life care. Opportunities exist for your education and professional development and will be supported. Palliative medicine is a growing field and a viable career path for those looking for something a little different, you'll be working alongside Australia's first Certified Palliative Care Veterinarian and a number of other highly qualified and experienced team members.
Our company culture and team dynamic are really important to us, we'll want you to share in our desire to contribute, give back and actively grow the palliative care field within our industry for the betterment of patients.
Given the love, support and training we'll invest in you, we're looking for someone who is able to be available for part days, a minimum of a few days a week, knowing consulting blocks can be as short as 2-4hrs and can flex around other commitments. Remuneration is based on how many consultations you elect to do, so simply tell us your goals and we'll help you get there.
Take the first step.....
We're always excited to connect with Vets in all regions and would love to chat more; especially if you feel like this work is potentially a good fit for you.
