Role Description
The Senior Engineer – Flooding is a full-time, hybrid role based in the Greater Melbourne Area. We currently are entirely work from home, however, will be looking for office space in **** and envisage a hybrid arrangement from then.
The role involves leading and delivering floodplain and surface water management projects, including hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, flood risk assessments, and stormwater management.
Responsibilities include preparing technical reports, reviewing and validating modelling outputs, and developing pragmatic mitigation and infrastructure solutions for public and private sector clients.
The Senior Engineer will collaborate closely with directors, peers, and clients, provide technical guidance to future junior team members, and contribute to project planning, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of methodologies and tools. The role also includes participating in client meetings, supporting proposals,



and helping shape best practice approaches to flooding and surface water management.

About you
5+ years' experience in consulting
Solid technical capability in hydrology and hydraulics, including floodplain modelling, surface water management, and stormwater and drainage design.
Experience using industry-standard modelling and design tools (e.g., TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, RORB, and GIS platforms).
Proficiency in technical report writing, data analysis, and clear documentation of assumptions, methodology, and outcomes.
Project coordination skills, including planning tasks, managing timeframes and budgets, and contributing to proposals and client deliverables.
Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders and mentor junior engineers.
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources, or a closely related discipline.
Professional accreditation or progress toward chartered/registered status (e.g., Engineers Australia) is highly regarded.
Experience working in consulting, local government, or related sectors on flooding, drainage, or infrastructure projects in Australia is beneficial.
