At Metcash, we're passionate about supporting independent retailers and helping local communities thrive. We're looking for a Buyer – Meat & Seafood to bring their product knowledge, supplier relationships and commercial smarts to our fresh food team.

In this Role, You Will:
n
n
Buy smart:
Work with suppliers to source quality meat and seafood, negotiate great deals and maximise sales and profitability.
n
Drive promotions:
Plan and execute promotional campaigns and seasonal events to keep customers coming back.
n
Support our retailers:
Partner with Retail Operations to deliver the right products, pricing and category initiatives for independent retailers.
n
Keep things fresh:
Manage stock, product ranges and purchasing quantities while minimising waste and improving availability.
n
Know the market:
Monitor competitor activity, understand customer needs and turn market insights into opportunities.
n

You'll bring:
n
n
Experience in buying, ideally within fresh food, meat, seafood or supermarket retail.
n
Strong product knowledge and an understanding of supermarket retailing and supply chain operations.
n
Commercial acumen, with the ability to negotiate,



analyse sales and margins, and identify opportunities.
n
Great communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to influence suppliers and internal stakeholders.
n
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a hands-on approach to getting things done.
n
Confidence using Microsoft Office and managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
