About the Role
Minus 1 Refrigerated Transport is seeking an experienced Cross-Dock Loadout Supervisor to oversee daily cross-dock, freight consolidation, trailer loading and dispatch operations at our Dandenong South facility.
This is a hands-on supervisory role suited to someone with proven experience in cross-dock and loadout operations within the transport, logistics or distribution industry. We are looking for an experienced operator who understands the demands of a busy transport depot, can confidently lead a team and takes ownership of shift performance.
Key Responsibilities

Monitor loading progress and proactively communicate delays, shortages, damaged freight or other operational issues.
Coordinate closely with Allocators, Drivers, Warehouse and Linehaul teams to ensure smooth freight movements.
Ensure refrigerated freight is handled in accordance with applicable cold chain, temperature control and customer requirements.
Conduct load checks to verify freight accuracy, safe loading, load restraint and compliance with operational procedures.
Ensure manifests, dispatch paperwork and transport system updates are completed accurately and on time.
Monitor productivity, labour allocation and shift performance, addressing operational issues as they arise.
Train, coach and support team members to maintain performance, accuracy and safe work practices.
Identify operational bottlenecks and recommend improvements to productivity, freight flow and service delivery.
Maintain a clean, organised and safe dock and cross-dock environment.
Conduct toolbox talks and reinforce compliance with site safety procedures.
Support compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR), mass management, load restraint and applicable transport safety requirements.
Promptly report and escalation incidents, near misses, freight damage, safety hazards and service issues.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
Demonstrated hands-on experience in cross-dock and loadout operations within a transport, freight or logistics environment.
Previous experience as a Cross-Dock Supervisor, Loadout Supervisor, Leading Hand or in a similar operational leadership role.
Strong practical understanding of freight consolidation, pallet handling,
trailer loading, dispatch procedures and trailer utilisation.
Proven ability to supervise and coordinate a team in a fast-paced transport or warehouse operation.
Experience managing competing priorities and ensuring freight is dispatched within strict timeframes.
Sound understanding of workplace safety, freight handling and safe loading practices.
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to provide clear direction and address operational issues.
Good attention to detail when checking freight, manifests, labels and loading requirements.
Ability to identify operational problems and implement practical solutions.
Basic computer skills and experience using transport management or warehouse systems.
Desirable:
Experience in refrigerated transport, temperature-controlled freight or cold chain logistics.
Knowledge of Chain of Responsibility, mass management and load restraint requirements.
Current forklift licence.
Experience coordinating with drivers, allocators and interstate linehaul operations.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on leader who understands cross-dock operations from the ground up.
The successful candidate will be confident directing a team, managing freight flow and making practical decisions to keep the operation running efficiently. They will take ownership of their shift, maintain high standards of safety and accuracy, and communicate effectively with the wider operation.
This role is best suited to someone who has already worked in cross-dock and loadout operations and can confidently step into a supervisory position. General warehouse experience without relevant cross-dock or freight loading experience will not be sufficient.
