Content & Brand Lead
Lort Smith Animal Hospital | North Melbourne, VIC | Full-time | Hybrid working
Create content that stops the scroll and makes a difference.
Are you a creative all-rounder who thrives on turning ideas into compelling content? Someone who can spot a trend, pick up a camera, produce and edit a great reel, write the caption, publish it and build a community around the story?
At Lort Smith Animal Hospital, we're looking for a dynamic, agile and forward-thinking Content & Brand Lead who loves being hands‐on, moves quickly and knows how to bring a brand to life across digital channels.
Working across our large dynamic North Melbourne Hospital and our Campbellfield Adoption Centre this is a role for someone who can balance creativity with strategy, work confidently across a range of content formats and bring energy, initiative and attention to detail to everything they produce.
About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Brand & Marketing, you'll play a hands‐on role in bringing Lort Smith's brand, services and impact to life through creative content and coordinated marketing activity.
Content creation, video editing and social media management are at the heart of this position. You'll be out in the organisation finding stories, capturing content, creating graphics, editing short‐form video and managing content across our social channels. You'll understand what's trending, what resonates with different audiences and how to adapt content for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
You'll also contribute to broader marketing activity across email, website, digital campaigns and print, ensuring our communications are consistent, engaging and aligned with organisational priorities.
Working across a complex organisation, you'll build relationships with teams across veterinary services, fundraising, community engagement and pet rehoming to uncover stories, translate technical information into accessible content and represent the Lort Smith brand with confidence.
This is a fast‐moving, hands‐on role for someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative and can move between creative production, planning and stakeholder collaboration without losing sight of the detail.
You will thrive in this role if you love:
Creating standout content: Conceptualise, capture, produce and edit engaging content, including short‐form video, reels, photography, graphics and written stories.
Managing social media: Plan,

create, schedule and publish content across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, maintaining a consistent presence across channels.
Building community and engagement: Create content that connects with our audiences, strengthens our community and encourages meaningful interaction with the Lort Smith brand.
Staying ahead of trends: Keep your finger on the pulse of emerging formats, platform updates, trending topics and creative opportunities, translating them into relevant content for our audiences.
Finding the stories: Work proactively with teams across the organisation to capture authentic stories about animal care, veterinary expertise, pet rehoming and our impact in the community.
Capturing content on location: Regularly visit our Campbellfield adoption centre to capture animal stories, adoption content and behind‐the‐scenes moments.
Supporting integrated marketing: Adapt content across email campaigns, website updates, digital advertising and print collateral, ensuring a connected brand experience.
Writing and editing: Produce clear, engaging and audience‐focused copy for social media, websites, email and campaigns, applying SEO principles where appropriate.
Using insights to improve: Monitor channel performance, engagement and campaign analytics, including Google Analytics where relevant, and use data to inform future content.
Protecting our brand: Maintain high standards of visual identity, tone of voice, accuracy, consent, confidentiality and animal welfare across everything you produce.
About you:
You're a natural content creator who combines creative instinct with strong production skills. You're energised by a fast‐paced environment, comfortable taking ownership and confident enough to bring ideas forward, challenge the status quo and get things moving.
You don't just tell people what content could look like — you make it happen.
Demonstrated experience in content creation, digital marketing, communications, social media or a related field.
Strong hands‐on production skills, including filming, photography,

video editing and creating engaging short‐form content.
A portfolio that demonstrates your creative capability.
Experience managing social media accounts end to end, including content planning, publishing, community engagement and performance monitoring.
A strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, including the different audiences, formats and creative approaches that work on each platform.
Excellent writing, editing and copywriting skills, with an understanding of brand voice, SEO and audience engagement.
Graphic design capability using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud or similar.
An understanding of broader digital marketing, including email campaigns, website content and analytics.
Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage a busy content calendar and multiple priorities.
Confidence working with stakeholders, asking questions, building relationships and translating complex or technical information into accessible content.
A proactive, collaborative and solutions‐focused approach, with the confidence to work independently and make sound decisions within agreed priorities.
Experience in a veterinary, animal health, healthcare or other technical service environment would be highly regarded. An appreciation for animal welfare and the ability to handle sensitive stories with empathy and sound judgement are key.
Why join Lort Smith?
This is an opportunity to use your creative skills for a purpose that matters.
You'll help tell the stories behind the animals, the people who care for them and the work that keeps pets and their families together. Your content will help raise awareness, strengthen community connections and showcase the difference accessible, compassionate veterinary care can make.
You'll join a passionate organisation where your creativity can make a genuine impact — and where no two days are quite the same.
Location: North Melbourne, with regular travel to our Campbellfield adoption centre.
Working arrangement: Full‐time, hybrid model, generally three days in the office or at work sites and two days working from home, subject to operational and content requirements.
Flexibility: Some work outside standard business hours, including occasional weekends, may be required to capture timely content or support campaigns and events.
