The Smoking Camel is looking for an exceptional
Venue Manager
to lead one of Byron Bay's most energetic and personality-filled venues.
Bold, vibrant and built around great food, great drinks and a cracking atmosphere, The Smoking Camel needs a leader who can bring all of that together.
We're looking for someone who can command a busy Saturday night, build a team people want to be part of, create exceptional guest experiences and still know exactly where the venue sits commercially.

We want a Venue Manager who is ambitious, commercially switched on and brilliant with people.
Someone who can lead from the floor during service and come back Monday ready to talk labour, guest feedback, P&L; performance, team development and what we're doing next.
THE ROLE
As Venue Manager, you'll be accountable for the overall performance and success of The Smoking Camel.
You'll lead the Front of House team, partner closely with the Head Chef and take ownership of the guest experience, people, culture, commercial performance and day-to-day operation of the venue.
This is
not just a floor management role
.
You'll have genuine responsibility, accountability and the opportunity to influence how the venue performs, develops and grows.
You'll be responsible for:
Leading all FOH operations and setting the standard for exceptional service.
Being a highly visible leader on the floor - coaching,



guiding and supporting your team in real time.
Building, developing and retaining a strong, professional and engaged FOH team.
Creating a culture built around hospitality, accountability, respect and high standards.
Taking ownership of the guest experience from the moment someone walks through the door.
Managing guest feedback and service recovery with confidence, warmth and professionalism.
Owning venue labour, budgets and financial performance.
Understanding your P&L; and using the numbers to make better operational decisions.
Driving sales, productivity and commercial performance without compromising the guest experience.
Leading recruitment, rostering, training, performance conversations and development within your team.
Developing your Management and broader leadership team so the venue remains strong even when you're not there.
Working closely with the Head Chef to create strong alignment between FOH and BOH.
Maintaining exceptional standards across venue presentation, atmosphere, music, lighting, cleanliness and service.
Ensuring compliance across RSA, WHS, licensing and operational requirements.
Using systems and data confidently, including Deputy, SevenRooms, OrderMate, Weel and other Arcade Agency platforms.
Representing your venue within the wider Arcade Agency Leadership Team.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR




You might already be an experienced Venue Manager ready for a fresh challenge, or an outstanding Assistant Venue Manager who is ready to take full ownership of a venue.
Either way, you'll need to be someone who leads from the front.
You'll bring:
Robust experience leading a fast-paced, high-volume hospitality venue.
A genuine passion for restaurants, people and exceptional hospitality.
Natural leadership presence - your team knows what good looks like because you show them.
Commercial confidence and a strong understanding of labour, budgets and P&L; performance.
The ability to build, coach and inspire a high-performing team.
High standards without the ego.
Calm, confident leadership when the venue is absolutely pumping.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Confidence having performance conversations and holding people accountable.
The ability to balance guest experience with commercial outcomes.
A proactive mindset - you see what needs doing and you get it moving.
Confidence using operational systems, reporting and data.
A leadership style that makes people want to perform for you.

You'll be a key part of the broader Arcade Agency team, working closely with Operations, People, Marketing, Finance and Culinary leadership while still having genuine ownership of your venue.
