SALARY - $110,000 - $130,000 per annum, dependent on experience

My client designs and manufactures bespoke heavy vehicle equipment. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Melbourne on a permanent basis.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
At least 2 years' experience in a Mechanical Design Engineering position
Previous experience designing parts for heavy vehicles, trucks, trailers or similar equipment
Highly skilled with 3D CAD, ideally SolidWorks, Inventor or similar
Experience designing fabricated components, sheet metal and structural steel
Good understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes
Experience producing detailed engineering and manufacturing drawings
Robust practical and hands-on approach to design
Experience working closely with manufacturing and fabrication teams
Able to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines




Able to maintain technical documentation and BOMs
Able to work well individually as well as part of a team
The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
Using 3D CAD for concept design, modelling and technical drawings
Designing components and assemblies for heavy vehicles and equipment
Producing detailed engineering and manufacturing drawings
Developing and updating 3D models and engineering designs
Working closely with manufacturing and fabrication teams
Liaising with suppliers and external manufacturing providers
Creating and maintaining BOMs and technical documentation
Supporting the full design process from concept through to production
Assisting with prototype builds, testing and final assembly
Checking designs and drawings prior to manufacture
Working in a small, multi-disciplinary team on varied engineering projects
