FEMALE DISABILITY SUPPORT WORKER (IMMEDIATE START)
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Female NDIS Support Worker - Complex Physical Care
About Us
Nura Care is an NDIS registered provider delivering high-quality, person-centred disability supports across Brisbane and surrounding regions.
We are currently building a dedicated support team for an adult female participant with significant physical support needs who requires assistance with personal care, mobility, positioning, continence support and complex daily living activities.
This is not a standard community access role.
We are seeking experienced female support workers who are confident providing hands-on complex physical support and working safely as part of a 2-3 person support team.
The Role
The participant currently experiences severe bilateral lower limb and abdominal lymphoedema associated with Milroy's Disease and has experienced significant functional decline.
She is currently largely bed-bound and requires substantial assistance with personal care, positioning and mobility.
Support workers will work as part of a structured team and must be able to follow clinical, manual handling, wound care, pressure care and allied health instructions precisely.
This role requires patience, dignity, robust communication and a high level of awareness of WHS and safe manual handling practices.
Key Duties
Provide respectful personal care and intimate care
Assist with bed bathing, dressing, grooming and hygiene
Support continence care, including pad changes and bed-based toileting
Assist with repositioning and pressure care
Support safe bed mobility
Participate in multi-person transfers in accordance with the participant's approved manual handling plan
Use approved equipment including slide sheets, transfer boards, Hover Matt equipment and bariatric equipment where trained and authorised
Assist with lymphoedema management under clinical direction
Assist trained clinicians/support teams with compression wrap application and removal
Monitor and report skin integrity concerns
Assist with wound care-related routines only within worker scope, training and clinical direction
Support meal preparation and daily living activities
Provide medication set-up assistance in accordance with the participant's medication plan and Nura Care policy
Maintain the participant's comfort and environment while she remains largely bed-based
Maintain accurate progress notes, observations and incident reporting
Follow all participant Care Plans, Risk Assessments and Manual Handling Plans
Escalate any deterioration, skin concerns, pain,
infection indicators or changes in function immediately
The hospital assessment identifies support requirements of 2-3 workers for many personal care tasks and up to four workers during the current transfer method using a Hover Matt and transfer board.

Ability to safely work within 2-person and 3-person care teams
Confidence working with participants requiring significant physical assistance
Ability to follow detailed clinical and allied health instructions

Pressure injury prevention
Skin integrity monitoring
Complex continence care
Chronic wound support
Lymphoedema
Compression wraps or garments
Bed-based personal care
Multi-person transfers
Working alongside nurses, occupational therapists and physiotherapists
The participant is considered at very high risk of pressure injury, with a Waterlow score of 27, and requires ongoing skin monitoring and pressure care.
She also requires an intensive lymphoedema management program, with the clinical report identifying that a minimum of three appropriately trained staff may be required for compression application and removal.
Manual Handling Experience Is Critical
Workers must:
Never attempt unsupported transfers
Follow the approved Manual Handling Plan
Use the required number of workers for each task
Use prescribed equipment correctly
Never improvise transfer techniques
Stop and escalade if equipment, staffing or the environment is unsafe
Understand safe working load requirements for bariatric equipment
The participant's current assessment specifically identifies significant manual handling and transfer risk.
Participant-Centred Approach
The participant has intact cognition and decision-making capacity and is able to communicate her needs and preferences.
Shelley Hibbard Functional Evid...
We are therefore seeking workers who:
Listen to the participant
Respect her choices and routines
Explain what they are doing before providing care
Obtain consent before hands-on assistance
Preserve dignity and privacy
Work collaboratively rather than taking control
Remain calm and professional when the participant prefers a different approach
