This role involves providing legal services to individuals on temporary visas experiencing domestic and family violence. You will be part of a pilot program offering family law and immigration legal support to eligible peoples. The position involves delivering high-quality legal advice, casework, and representation in migration law.Key Responsibilities:Provide migration legal services, including advice, casework, and representation for individuals holding temporary visas who are experiencing domestic and family violenceRepresent clients in various courts and tribunals as a solicitor advocate or by briefing counselPrioritise services for vulnerable groups, including Aboriginal or Torres Strait from culturally and linguistically diverse backgroundsWork collaboratively with a team to offer holistic support,



addressing both legal and social needsMaintain stakeholder engagement with key agenciesContribute to community legal education and law reform activitiesSkills and Capabilities:Eligibility for an Unrestricted Solicitor's Practising Certificate with a minimum of 4 years' post-admission experience in migration lawExperience in drafting court documents, providing legal advice, and managing filesTechnical competence in migration and refugee law, including protection visa mattersAdvocacy experience with the Department of Home Affairs and the Administrative Appeals TribunalLitigation and court advocacy experience in various courtsStrong knowledge of appropriate legal and non-legal referrals for individuals experiencing domestic violenceAbility to communicate effectively and work sensitively with clients from diverse backgroundsExcellent relationship management and interpersonal communication skillsCommitment to the mission and values of the organisation and the ability to work within a feminist frameworkOn offer:Attractive remuneration package of up to $100,000 plus superGenerous leave entitlements, including additional paid leave over Christmas and New YearSupportive and collaborative team environmentStrong focus on work-life balance and family-friendly policiesAdditional informationRemote work flexibilitySupportive team environmentExcellent career progression
