Disability Support Workers – SIL & Community Support |
Central Coast
Join a team that genuinely cares. Make a difference that matters.
We're looking for passionate, reliable and hands-on Support Workers to join our growing team across the Central Coast!
At My Coast Support, we're not here to simply provide support. We're here to make a difference.
The difference isn't WHAT we do. It's WHY we do it.
We're changing the way people living with disability experience community, connection and independence. Just as importantly, we're changing the way Support Workers in this industry are valued, respected and supported.
We believe great support starts with outstanding people, and we're looking for individuals who bring compassion, initiative, reliability and a genuine passion for helping others live their best lives.
Whether it's supporting someone to build independence at home, get out and enjoy their community, develop new skills or achieve a personal goal, every shift is an opportunity to make a real difference.
If you're someone who takes pride in your work, isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves and wants to be part of a supportive and passionate team, we want to hear from you!
The Chance
We're currently recruiting Disability Support Workers to provide a combination of Supported Independent Living (SIL) and community-based supports across the Central Coast.
Our supports are as diverse as the people we work with! From assisting participants with daily living and personal care in their homes to supporting community outings, social activities and individual goals, no two days are the same.
We're particularly looking for Support Workers who are confident providing hands-on personal care and available for regular sleepover shifts within our SIL homes.
While opportunities extend across both SIL and community support, sleepover availability, weekend flexibility and a willingness to provide full personal care are essential requirements for this recruitment round.
You'll be joining a team that values connection, independence, participant choice and making every day count.
What You'll Be Doing
- Personal Care: Providing hands-on assistance with showering, toileting, dressing, continence care, hygiene and mobility, including full physical assistance where required.
- Daily Living: Supporting cooking, cleaning, household routines, meal preparation and developing independent living skills.
- Complex Support Needs: Confidently supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, complex behaviours and mental health needs.
- Medication Support: Assisting with medication in accordance with training, organisational procedures and participant support plans.
- Mobility Assistance: Supporting safe transfers and the use of hoists,
Sara Stedy and other manual handling equipment where required.
- Community Participation: Encouraging participants to engage in activities, build relationships and enjoy their community.
- Documentation: Completing accurate shift notes, progress notes, incident reports and relevant support documentation.
- Empowerment & Independence: Promoting participant choice, dignity, independence and individual goals.
Most importantly, you'll bring patience, initiative, a positive attitude and the ability to adapt to the needs of each individual.
Let's Talk Availability – This Is Important!
Our SIL homes operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and we need Support Workers who can genuinely commit to the roster requirements.
To be considered for this position, you MUST:
- Be available to work at least one sleepover shift every week on an ongoing basis.
- Be available for weekend shifts as part of a rotating roster.
- Have flexibility to work a combination of morning, afternoon and evening shifts.
- Be willing and able to provide full personal care to participants of all genders, including showering, toileting, continence care and mobility assistance.
- Understand that sleepover shifts may involve assisting participants throughout the night, including toileting, repositioning or responding to emergencies.
Please note: Sleepover shifts are not necessarily uninterrupted sleep. While these shifts have a designated sleepover period, you must be comfortable providing assistance when participant needs arise.
We understand everyone has commitments outside of work, and we do our best to accommodate individual circumstances. However, sleepover availability, weekend flexibility and full personal care are essential requirements of these positions.
If you are unable to meet these requirements, this particular opportunity may not be the right fit.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for people who are more than just qualified on paper.
You'll be a great fit if you:
- Have a genuine passion for supporting people with disability.
- Are reliable, proactive and take ownership of your responsibilities.
- Are confident providing personal care and supporting participants with complex needs.
- Can remain calm, patient and professional in challenging situations.
- Communicate effectively and work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Respect participant choice, dignity, privacy and independence.
- Are flexible, adaptable and willing to learn.
- Understand the importance of consistency and building trusted relationships with participants.
Qualifications & Experience
Previous disability support experience is highly regarded, particularly within SIL environments.
We'd love to hear from applicants with:
- Experience supporting people with intellectual disabilities, complex behaviours or mental health needs.
- Experience providing personal care and physical assistance.
- Experience using hoists, Sara Stedy or other mobility equipment.
- Qualifications in Disability, Community Services, Nursing or Aged Care.
- Assistant in Nursing (AIN) qualifications.
- Knowledge of medication support processes and diabetes management.
You'll also need:
- A current First Aid and CPR certificate.
- A current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain one.
- A valid driver's licence and access to reliable transport.
- A National Police Check, or willingness to obtain one.
New to the Industry? Don't Count Yourself Out!
We know everyone has to start somewhere!
If you're passionate, eager to learn and genuinely believe you have what it takes to make a difference, we'd still love to hear from you.
While experience is valuable, attitude, reliability, compassion and a willingness to learn are just as important to us.
If you have limited experience, please include a cover letter telling us why you'd be a excellent addition to the My Coast Support team.
We promise we'll read it!
Why Join My Coast Support?
Because the people you work with matter, too.
We believe Support Workers deserve to feel valued, heard, respected and confident in the work they do.
We're passionate about creating a workplace where you can:
- Be part of a supportive, approachable and passionate team.
- Build meaningful, ongoing relationships with participants.
- Develop your skills and confidence through training and professional development.
- Work in an environment that values communication, teamwork and initiative.
- Make a genuine difference in people's everyday lives.
Ready to Make a Difference?
If you're compassionate, dependable, confident with personal care and ready to commit to regular sleepover and weekend shifts, we'd love to meet you!
Apply today and tell us a little about yourself, your experience and what makes you passionate about disability support.
Please ensure your application clearly outlines your availability for sleepover shifts, weekends and personal care responsibilities.
Due to the volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted to arrange an interview.
