About the role

As a Trainee Machine Operator, you will play a crucial role in our timber processing and plantation operations, operating specialised machinery to chip and bunch timber materials efficiently and safely. This position is integral to maintaining productivity and meeting our operational targets whilst upholding the highest safety standards across our forestry activities.

Key responsibilities

- Operate Chipper and Fella Buncher machinery in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and industry best practices. Become a Team Leader and manage the day to day operations of your site.

- Process timber and forestry materials, ensuring consistent quality output and optimal machine utilisation.

- Perform pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on assigned equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.

- Monitor material flow and adjust machine settings as necessary to maximise productivity.

- Maintain accurate records of production output and machinery performance.

- Adhere to all health and safety protocols and site-specific procedures at all times.

- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding operational issues and safety concerns.

- Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions and report maintenance requirements to the maintenance team.

- Support environmental and sustainability practices within forestry operations.

About you

- Current plant operator ticket or equivalent experience demonstrating machinery operation competency.

- Proven experience an advantage but not essential.

- Strong understanding of health,



safety and environmental regulations applicable to forestry and plant operation.

- Excellent mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.

- High level of attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate operational records.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an outdoor, sometimes challenging environment.

- Strong communication skills and willingness to follow instructions and procedures.

- Physical capability to perform the duties of the role, including prolonged periods standing and working with heavy machinery.

- A valid driver's licence is desirable.

- Experience in Western Australian forestry operations is highly valued.
