My client is a well-established Australian business seeking an experienced CFO to join their Sydney CBD team. Operating in a project-based workplace, the business is looking for a commercially minded finance leader with strong WIP and project costing experience to support its next stage of growth.
The Role
A broad CFO opportunity combining strategic leadership with hands-on financial oversight. Working closely with the CEO and Board, you will lead the finance function, drive commercial performance and strengthen financial reporting across the business. Responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing financial performance, reporting, budgeting and forecasting
- Managing cash flow, working capital and treasury
- Providing commercial oversight of WIP, project costing and margins
- Improving financial visibility across projects and business operations
- Strengthening financial controls, reporting processes and governance
- Overseeing statutory reporting, technical accounting and compliance
- Driving finance systems improvements and transformation
- Partnering with the CEO and Board on business strategy and growth
- Developing and strengthening the finance team
About You
- Previous CFO, Finance Director or senior finance leadership experience
- Background in a similar project-based industry, such as engineering, construction, manufacturing or related environments
- Strong WIP, project accounting and costing experience
- Commercially minded, with the ability to understand project profitability and business performance
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge
- Experience improving finance processes, systems and controls
- Proven ability to partner with senior stakeholders and influence business decisions
- CA/CPA qualified
- Hands-on approach with strong leadership and communication skills
