Our client is an established Australian investment organisation seeking an Investment Operations Associate to support its growing Credit and Emerging Companies investment team. This role will allow those in the investment team to focus fully on origination and portfolio management while strengthening operational controls and delivering accurate, timely reporting for the business.
You will own the operational lifecycle of investments following approval, maintain accurate portfolio data and deliver reporting for senior leadership, committees and the Board. This newly created role offers the opportunity to build processes, strengthen controls and improve reporting as the platform grows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage post-approval transaction operations, including loan, bond and fund settlements, KYC, capital calls and subscriptions.
- Coordinate with Finance and transaction execution colleagues to validate funds movements, ensure accurate system setup and maintain transaction documentation.
- Maintain loan, bond trading, commitments and pipeline registers, alongside loan models, market data and historical portfolio information.
- Monitor interest notices and payment dates, reconcile expected and received cashflows, and regularly validate portfolio P&L; and cash positions.
- Produce monthly investment committee packs, quarterly Board reporting and semi-annual expected credit loss (ECL) reporting, incorporating NAV, cashflow and IRR analysis.
- Track investment reporting obligations and covenants, collect required documentation, follow up outstanding items and escalate non-compliance to the investment team.
- Support weekly credit portfolio hedging, maintain accurate records and coordinate committee actions and team administration.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience in investment operations, middle office, fund administration, custody or trustee services, or Big 4 audit/deals with exposure to credit or private markets.
- Loan and/or bond settlements experience strongly preferred, with exposure to hedging or derivatives operations an advantage.
- Strong financial understanding across loan interest, fees, IRR, fund structures, NAV and ECL concepts.
- Advanced Excel skills, with experience maintaining financial models, portfolio registers and reporting tools.
- Demonstrated experience translating portfolio data into clear committee or Board-level reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to controls, cash validation and resolving discrepancies.
- The ability to manage competing deadlines independently and build effective relationships across Investments, Finance, legal and external counterparties.
- Degree qualified in commerce, finance, accounting or a related discipline
Benefits:
- Ownership of a newly created investment operations function within a growing team.
- Broad exposure across credit and equity investments in domestic and global markets.
- Close collaboration with investment professionals and the opportunity to shape processes, controls and reporting.
- Generous remuneration package and company wide perks.
