Looking for your next prospect in the marine industry? Join Crawford’s specialist Marine team in Melbourne and take on a varied role combining technical expertise, investigations, client relationships and business development.

Reporting to the National Marine Manager, you will manage marine, cargo, transportation and liability losses from initial notification through to settlement, with a mix of office and field-based work.

We are looking for someone with experience across marine surveying or marine claims, and would also welcome candidates specialising in cargo or hull, or a combination of both.

What You Will Be Doing

- Investigating and assessing marine, cargo, transport and liability losses




- Conducting office and field-based assessments from first notification through to settlement
- Inspecting physical damage and gathering information from relevant stakeholders
- Reviewing policies, transport documentation, carriage contracts and claim information
- Preparing clear, detailed reports and settlement recommendations
- Managing claim reserves, recoveries and settlement negotiations
- Building strong relationships with clients, insureds and industry stakeholders
- Supporting business development within the marine industry
- Conducting marine hull surveys where required

What We Are Looking For
Essential

- Experience as a Marine Surveyor, Marine Claims Assessor or related specialist role.
- Knowledge of marine insurance, cargo, transport or liability claims.
- Strong investigation, report writing and problem-solving skills
- Confident communicator with the ability to build strong client and industry relationships
- Australian Driver's Licence and ability to obtain an MSIC card.

Desirable

- Experience across cargo, hull or both
- Understanding of marine legislation, conventions and INCOTERMS, or a willingness to develop this expertise.
- Relevant industry qualifications (or willingness to obtain).
