The Role

As Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the integrity, compliance, and efficiency of our financial operations. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you’ll be accountable for core accounting functions, accounts payable, banking, payroll and staff incentive reconciliation, month end close and reporting, as well as maintaining the integrity of our systems and controls. You’ll bring strong technical knowledge, a process-driven mindset, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic scale-up environment.

Key Accountabilities

- Record financial transactions in line with our business model (e.g., subscription revenue, customer refunds, operating costs)
- Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and ensure effective financial accounting systems
- Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial and statistical reports
- Own the accounts payable function end-to-end, including supplier set-up, invoice processing, approvals and payment runs
- Manage banking, including cash management, daily bank reconciliations, payment authorisations and banking relationships
- Manage accounts receivable and perform balance sheet reconciliations
- Own payroll end-to-end, ensuring accurate and timely processing in compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., PAYG, Superannuation, Payroll Tax)
- Reconcile and process staff incentive payments, including sales commissions and bonuses, in line with approved incentive plans




- Maintain the fixed asset register
- Prepare statutory financial and tax returns (e.g., BAS, FBT, PAYG, Superannuation)
- Ensure internal financial and external regulatory reporting obligations are met
- Liaise with internal and external auditors and manage audit requirements
- Identify and drive improvements in financial processes and systems
- Partner with operational teams to provide financial insight and business support

Skills & Experience

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CA or CPA qualified

Experience

- Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role
- Background in the technology, SaaS, or start-up/scale-up environments preferred
- Proven experience with budgeting, forecasting, accounts payable, banking, payroll (including commission reconciliation), and statutory compliance

Technical Skills

- Strong proficiency in double-entry bookkeeping, financial statement preparation (AASB), and Australian tax regulations
- Solid knowledge of financial systems (e.g., Xero)
- Experience using Excel for financial modelling, analysis, and reporting
- Competence in maintaining accounting systems and internal controls
- Ability to analyse financial data, identify trends, and present insights to stakeholders
