Independent Safe Access
Picton
Wanted: someone who looks at a roof and thinks “I’ve got this.”
Do you love being on the tools, hate sitting at a desk, and secretly enjoy the view from up top? Great news – our “office” includes rooftops, cooling towers, warehouses and some of Sydney’s best-known landmarks. The views are free. The coffee you’ll have to bring yourself.
The serious bit: every anchor point we install or certify is something a worker trusts their life to. So we have a lot of fun, but we never muck around with safety. If that sounds like your kind of crew, read on.
Who we are
Independent Safe Access (I Protected Access) is a family-run height safety specialist based in Picton. We’ve been keeping people safe at height across NSW, greater Sydney, the East Coast and Canberra for over 21 years – and we’re still not over the views.
We supply, install, inspect and certify fall protection and safe access systems for strata managers, builders, roofers, modular building manufacturers, schools, hospitals, transport sites, shopping centres and national retailers. From a backyard granny flat to a big-name landmark, no job is too big or too small.
A week in your boots might look like
• Monday: installing anchor points and static lines on a shiny new warehouse roof
• Tuesday: road trip! Recertification inspections in regional NSW
• Wednesday: rebar pull testing (yes, you get to pull on things for a living)
• Thursday: fitting ladders, walkways, stairs and guardrails
• Friday: PPE inspections, wrapping up reports and showing a client how to use their new system
Along the way you’ll complete risk assessments, SWMS and asset registers,
chat with strata and facility managers, and make sure every job ticks the Australian Standards (including AS/NZS 1891 and AS/NZS 5532) and WHS boxes.
What you’ll need to pack
The non-negotiables:
• Working at Heights certification
• White Card (General Construction Induction)
• Full Australian driver’s licence
• A love of road trips across Sydney, regional NSW and the ACT (including some overnighters)
• An eye for detail and a “safety first, every time” attitude
Bonus points (but we’ll train the right person):
• Experience in height safety, roofing, rigging, steel fixing, construction or a related trade
• EWP licence (Yellow Card)
• Confined Spaces or Rescue training
• You know your way around drills, chemical anchors and fixing into concrete, steel and timber
• You can read plans and drawings, and you’re happy doing reports on a tablet or phone
Why you’ll love it here
• Family-run means you’re a name, not a number (we’ll even remember your coffee order)
• Steady work from loyal clients who keep coming back
• Training through the industry’s leading manufacturers
• Modern tools and gear – no hand-me-down drills here
• A clear ladder (pun fully intended) to Leading Hand and supervisor roles
• Variety, variety, variety – no two days are the same
