Take ownership. Keep things moving. Help a growing Australian manufacturer reach its next level.

Metro Shades is a growing, family-owned Australian manufacturer and supplier of premium window furnishings, security products and outdoor shading solutions.

Based in Kilsyth, Melbourne, we manufacture and supply a growing range of products for our trade partners and customers. Our expanding product range, investment in manufacturing capabilities and growing customer base mean we need an experienced Operations Coordinator to help drive our next stage of growth.

We’re looking for a hands-on Operations Coordinator who takes pride in getting things done, solving problems and building a team that consistently delivers.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants genuine ownership of day-to-day operations and the chance to make a meaningful impact in a growing business.

About the role

Reporting directly to the General Manager and Director, you will take responsibility for coordinating Metro Shades’ day-to-day operations, connecting customer service and office administration with manufacturing, deliveries and our customer network.

You’ll bring structure, accountability and urgency to the business, ensuring orders progress, customers receive clear communication, staff understand their responsibilities and operational issues are resolved before they become bigger problems.

This is a hands-on leadership position. We need someone who can lead people, but who is equally comfortable picking up the phone, investigating an issue, working through an order problem or helping the team get back on track.

Key responsibilities

Operations and workflow

Oversee the day-to-day flow of work from order entry through manufacturing, delivery and installation.

Monitor outstanding orders, production priorities, lead times and customer commitments.

Identify bottlenecks, resolve issues and coordinate solutions across teams.

Ensure information is accurate, complete and available to the people who need it.

Leadership and accountability

Provide clear direction, priorities and support to the office and operational team.

Establish expectations and follow up to ensure commitments are met.

Address recurring mistakes, missed deadlines and communication gaps constructively.

Build a culture of ownership, urgency and teamwork.

Customer and commercial outcomes

Oversee customer service standards and manage escalated issues.

Work with trade partners, suppliers and internal teams to resolve operational challenges.

Help reduce rework and protect margins.

Keep the Director informed of significant risks, recurring issues and decisions requiring approval.

About you

You’ll likely have experience in operations, manufacturing, distribution, installation services or a similar fast-moving workplace.

More importantly,

you’ll be someone who:

Takes ownership and follows things through without needing constant reminders.

Has a strong sense of urgency and understands the importance of deadlines.

Makes sound decisions and knows when to escal

Can lead people, set expectations and hold others accountable respectfully.

Is organised, commercially aware and comfortable managing competing priorities.

Communicates clearly with customers, office staff, production teams and management.

Looks for solutions rather than waiting to be told what to do.

Is practical, approachable and willing to roll up their sleeves when required.

Experience with order management systems, manufacturing workflows, scheduling or ERP software will be highly regarded.

Knowledge of window furnishings is an advantage, but we are equally interested in strong operational leaders from other relevant industries.

Why join Metro Shades?

Join a family-owned Australian business with a growing product range and exciting opportunities ahead.

Work closely with the Director and have a genuine influence on how the business operates.

Take real ownership of your role and see the difference you make.

Be part of a business investing in its people, manufacturing capabilities and long-term growth.

Build a rewarding career as the business continues to expand.

Remuneration and location

Salary: $80,000–$90,000 plus superannuation, depending on experience.
Location: Kilsyth, Melbourne.
Employment: Full-time, onsite.
