Mobility Access Modifications – Preston VIC
MAM
Preston, Melbourne VIC | Onsite
6-Month Project | 5 Days per Week
Lead a hands-on warehouse improvement project — strengthen daily operations, implement better stock management and pre-picking systems, and make the improvements last.
We're looking for an experienced warehouse professional who can work alongside our existing Warehouse Team Leader, improve daily operations and take ownership of a six-month warehouse improvement project.
A major priority is implementing a practical stock management and pre-picking system that helps our warehouse prepare materials ahead of scheduled jobs, improve inventory accuracy and reduce unnecessary delays.
This is a hands-on role where you'll lead improvements from planning through to implementation, work directly with the team and see the results in everyday operations.
What you'll be doing
Warehouse operations and leadership
Support the existing Warehouse Team Leader with daily coordination, work allocation, team performance and accountability.
Provide acting operational leadership support when required.
Improve stock control, receiving, storage, picking, pre-loading, dispatch, returns and replenishment.
Strengthen materials planning and coordination between warehouse, manufacturing and trades teams.
Stock management and systems implementation
Take ownership of assessing, developing, testing and rolling out improved stock management and pre-picking processes.
Explore ways to generate job-specific picking lists and inventory requirements from approved quotes.
Introduce practical stock tracking, barcode scanning or other suitable inventory solutions where feasible.
Improve inventory visibility, stock accuracy and material availability ahead of scheduled jobs.
Work with our Business Process Analyst and relevant stakeholders to evaluate systems, integration feasibility and implementation costs.
Make practical use of existing tools,
including AroFlo, Datapel, Trello and Excel, and identify opportunities to reduce manual work.
Process improvement and team adoption
Identify and implement improvements that reduce missing materials, supplier trips, last-minute purchasing and avoidable job delays.
Improve warehouse organisation, planning, workflows and accountability.
Involve warehouse staff, gain buy-in and help the team adopt new processes.
Develop practical procedures, checklists and training materials.
Track results and ensure the improvements can be maintained after the project ends.
What we’re looking for
You understand warehouse operations, can lead people on the floor and have a track record of turning improvement ideas into working processes.
Essential experience and skills
- Solid hands-on experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, logistics or manufacturing.
- Experience supervising or coordinating warehouse or operational teams.
- Demonstrated experience personally delivering warehouse process or systems improvements.
- Strong knowledge of stock control, picking, replenishment and inventory management.
- Ability to plan, coordinate and implement practical operational projects.
- Confidence using inventory or warehouse systems, Excel and other digital tools.
- Ability to work alongside an existing Team Leader, communicate clearly and gain team buy-in.
- Willingness to work hands-on and onsite in Preston five days per week.
- Valid Australian work rights covering the required hours and six-month engagement.
Highly regarded
- Experience implementing warehouse management systems, digital picking processes or barcode scanning.
- Familiarity with AroFlo, Datapel, Trello or similar systems.
- Experience improving quoting-to-inventory or job preparation workflows.
- Background in construction, building materials, manufacturing, trades or field-service operations.
- Knowledge of 5S, continuous improvement and practical warehouse automation.
You don't need experience with every system we use. What matters is your ability to understand operational problems, deliver workable solutions and help the team adopt them.
What success looks like after six months
We're looking for measurable improvements that make day-to-day warehouse operations easier and more reliable.
By the end of the project, we aim to have:
- Better stock accuracy, visibility and replenishment processes.
- A working pre-picking process that helps prepare materials ahead of scheduled jobs, with suitable automation where feasible.
- Fewer missing materials, unnecessary supplier trips and avoidable job delays.
- Stronger daily planning, warehouse coordination and team accountability.
- Clear procedures, trained staff and improvements that the team can maintain independently.
