The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant looking to take ownership of a portfolio and develop their career within a supportive public practice environment.

You will work closely with business owners and managers, providing high-quality accounting, taxation and advisory support across a diverse range of clients and industries.

The role is based in Leichhardt and offers a hybrid working arrangement, with flexibility to work from home.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage a portfolio of SME and family business clients
- Prepare and review financial statements and management reports
- Prepare and review income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals
- Work across SMSF accounting and compliance
- Prepare and review BAS, GST, FBT and payroll-related compliance
- Complete reconciliations and ensure accuracy across client files
- Review work prepared by junior accountants
- Provide direct client communication and ongoing support
- Assist with tax planning and business advisory services
- Interpret financial information and provide practical recommendationsIdentify opportunities to provide additional services to clients




- Assist with strategic planning and business development activities
- Work closely with Partners and senior team members
- Manage multiple engagements and ensure deadlines are consistently met
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of processes and systems

Ideally, You’ll Have

- 5+ years' Australian accounting experience
- Previous experience within public practice or business services
- Strong technical knowledge across accounting and taxation
- Experience working with SME and family business clients
- Strong knowledge of BAS, GST, FBT, payroll and superannuation requirements
- Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns across multiple structures
- CA/CPA qualified or currently working towards qualification
- Strong client-facing and advisory skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to manage your own portfolio and work to deadlines
- Experience with Xero, BGL, MYOB and/or QuickBooks
- Strong Excel skills
- A proactive and collaborative approach to your work
