Main Duties & Responsibilities

The Personal Care Worker delivers person-centred personal care and emotional support to residents, assisting with daily living activities that promote health, wellbeing, and dignity.

The Personal Care Worker works under the direction of nursing staff and contributes to residents' quality of life by delivering care aligned with individual care plans.

Key duties include

- Support residents with activities of daily living in accordance with their care plans, including bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and oral hygiene.
- Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and use of mobility aids to maintain safety and independence.
- Provide emotional support and ensure referrals to RN and Wellbeing PCW as required.
- Support safe meal consumption and hydration, including feeding where necessary.
- Observe and report changes in resident health, mood, or behaviour to the EN or RN.




- Ensure resident comfort, dignity, and privacy are maintained at all times.
- Administer medications if formally assessed as competent under supervision.
- Encourage and support resident engagement in therapeutic and wellbeing activities within the care plan scope.
- Assist in maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with organisational procedures.
- Promote a clean and safe care environment by supporting infection prevention during care delivery.
- Communicate respectfully and empathetically with residents, their families, and the care team to ensure effective care delivery.

Experience & Qualifications

- Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care) or equivalent qualification
- Experience in providing personal care to older people, including those with dementia
- Satisfactory National Police Clearance / NDIS Clearance
- Understanding of person-centred care principles and the Aged Care Quality Standards

Skills

- Effective interpersonal skills, including empathy and cultural sensitivity
- Ability to document care accurately and report health changes to nursing staff
