Senior Legal Counsel – Property & Development

An established Australian property development and investment group is seeking a commercially minded Senior Legal Counsel to join its Melbourne-based legal team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced lawyer looking to build their in-house career, develop broader commercial expertise and take ownership of meaningful legal matters within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

Draft, review and negotiate property contracts, development agreements and associated transaction documentation.

Support land acquisitions, property due diligence and development structuring.

Prepare and manage off-the-plan sales contracts, disclosure documentation, contract variations and settlement matters.

Provide practical legal advice to internal development, sales and commercial teams.

Liaise with external legal advisers and coordinate legal matters across multiple projects.

Assist with legal compliance, risk management and the continuous improvement of legal processes and documentation.

About You





We're looking for a motivated and commercially astute lawyer who brings:

At least 5-7 years' post-qualification experience in property, real estate or development law.

Experience gained within a reputable law firm, property development business or similar commercial environment.

Strong drafting skills and experience working with property contracts and transactional documentation.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with commercial stakeholders.

A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the confidence to manage competing priorities.

Admission to practise in Australia and a current practising certificate, or eligibility to obtain one.

Above all, you'll be someone who enjoys working collaboratively, takes ownership of their work and is motivated to develop their expertise within a commercially driven setting.
