Hands-on compliance, operations and process improvement role within an established scrap metal recycling business. Work closely with the CEO and external advisers to translate regulatory and operational requirements into practical processes. Take ownership of implementing procedures, maintaining compliance systems and ensuring actions are followed through. Focus on environmental compliance (EPA Victoria), workplace safety, operational processes and continuous improvement. This is not a technical compliance specialist role. Requirements will be guided by the CEO and external advisers.

Key responsibilities

- Coordinate EPA, environmental, workplace safety and other compliance requirements
- Develop, document and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), checklists and internal controls
- Maintain compliance registers, records, documentation and reporting deadlines
- Coordinate with external compliance, safety and environmental advisers
- Identify process gaps and drive practical operational improvements




- Follow up with staff and management to ensure procedures are consistently followed
- Work directly with the CEO to prioritise and implement compliance and operational initiatives
- Support general office administration and provide occasional backup to finance and bookkeeping functions

About you

- Previous experience in compliance coordination, operational administration, quality systems, safety coordination or process improvement
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a structured, process-driven mindset
- Demonstrated ability to develop procedures, implement systems and follow through on actions
- Confident communicator who can work with management, operational staff and external advisers
- Proactive, practical and comfortable taking ownership of projects
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Comfortable working in a hands-on industrial setting
- Based in Dandenong or surrounding areas, with reliable personal transport
