Lead the Adventure. Inspire the Next Generation.

Are you an active Scouter or an inspiring leader ready to guide a thriving youth organization in your local community?

2nd Kings Langley Scout Group is searching for an energetic, collaborative, and visionary Group Leader to champion youth development, empower adult volunteers, and lead our group into its next chapter.

As Group Leader, you will serve as the executive hub of the group—supporting Unit Leaders, working closely with the Group Support Committee, and ensuring our youth members experience protected, values-driven, and adventure-packed Scouting.

How You’ll Make an Impact

- Drive Team Success: Mentor, motivate, and empower Unit Leaders and the Group Support Committee to deliver world-class youth programs.

- Guide Group Operations: Oversee strategic growth, celebrate membership milestones, and collaborate on hall, gear, and financial management.

- Champion Child Safety & Scouting Values: Uphold the highest standards of child safety, two-deep leadership, and youth-led programming across all sections.

- Represent the Group: Serve as the main liaison between the local group, the District Commissioner (DC), and the wider Scouting family.

Appointment & Transition Pathway

(In accordance with Scouts NSW / GWS Region appointment guidelines)

- Recommendation Process: The Group Support Committee, alongside Group Leaders and the District Commissioner, will review applicants and make a formal recommendation to the District Commissioner and Region leadership.

- Current Scouting Members: If appointed while completing required Group Leader training, you will be appointed as Leader-in-Charge (LIC)

in the interim while fulfilling your training pathway.

- New to Scouting / Non-Members: If you are not a current Scouting member, you will complete adult onboarding and training, while an appointed Leader-in-Charge (LIC) or the District Commissioner supports interim group oversight.

- Individual Plan: Upon endorsement by the Region Commissioner, your formal appointment/transfer paperwork and Individual Adult Volunteer Plan (IVAP) will be finalized.

Who We Are Looking For

- Scouting Background: Current active member of Scouts NSW (or eligible and willing to join/transfer).

- Leadership & People Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and team-building abilities with a cooperative mindset.

- Organizational Ability: Confidence to guide group plans, manage priorities, and liaise with District/Region stakeholders.

- Commitment to Values: Genuine dedication to child safety, inclusion, and the Scout Law and Promise.

Requirements

- Current Working With Children Check (WWCC).

- National Police Check / Scouts background check (arranged during appointment).

- Completion of the Scouts NSW adult leadership and Program Support Leader training pathway.

Time Commitment & Flexibility

- Indicative: ~4–8 hours per week on average (varies with event calendars and meetings).

- Schedule: Flexible evening and weekend commitments aligned with section nights and committee meetings.
