FOOD TECHNOLOGIST

Chai Spice Beverages Pty Ltd is a food and beverage manufacturing business specialising in the production of chai tea, drinking chocolate and superfood latte blends. We are seeking a qualified and experienced Food Technologist to join our team on a full time basis.

Location: 8 Chelmsford Street, Williamstown North VIC 3016

Employment Type: Full-time (38 hours per week)

Salary: $85,000 per annum plus superannuation

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Food Technologist to support the development, testing, quality assurance and continuous improvement of our food and beverage products. The successful applicant will play an important role in ensuring that our products meet established quality, safety and consistency standards while supporting efficient manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and improve formulations for chai tea, drinking chocolate and superfood latte blends.
- Conduct ingredient trials and product testing to assess flavour, sweetness, colour, texture and consistency.
- Develop and maintain quality control procedures for raw materials, production batches and finished products.
- Monitor product specifications, including moisture content, blend uniformity, appearance, flavour and packaging weight.
- Maintain and review HACCP plans, food safety procedures and quality assurance systems.
- Identify and assess food safety hazards, including allergen contamination, hygiene risks and processing-related issues.
- Review supplier specifications, certificates of analysis and ingredient quality to ensure compliance with product requirements.
- Investigate raw material quality issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Monitor manufacturing processes and provide technical guidance on mixing procedures, ingredient handling and production parameters.
- Investigate and resolve production issues,



including ingredient clumping, uneven spice distribution and inconsistent product characteristics.
- Conduct shelf-life trials, coordinate laboratory testing and assess packaging suitability to maintain product quality and stability.
- Maintain technical documentation, including product formulations, specifications, batch records and traceability procedures.
- Support internal quality audits, product recalls and compliance with applicable food safety requirements.
- Investigate customer complaints and product quality concerns, identify underlying causes and implement corrective actions.
- Recommend improvements to manufacturing processes to enhance product consistency, efficiency and reduce waste.
- Provide technical guidance and training to production staff regarding product quality and food safety procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

- Relevant tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum two (2) years of relevant work experience in food technology, food science, food product development, quality assurance or a similar field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of food manufacturing processes, product formulation and quality control.
- Experience in food safety systems, including HACCP principles and relevant food safety standards.
- Understanding of ingredient specifications, product testing and shelf-life assessment.
- Ability to investigate production and quality issues and recommend practical improvements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical documentation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to food safety and product quality.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with production and management teams.
