Totenda is hiring someone to lead the practical use of AI across our business and help build Aptanda, our tender preparation product.
We work in government relations, tender writing and Australian market entry. You’ll work directly with the founder to develop systems that find opportunities, use company knowledge and prepare strong responses for clients.
This is a hands-on role with room to shape the product and how the business operates. You don’t need to have been a chief officer before. We’re interested in what you can build, how you solve problems and whether you can turn an idea into something customers will pay for.
What you’ll do
- Develop Aptanda and the workflows behind chance monitoring, tender assessment and bid preparation.
- Connect AI models and agents with documents, business systems and client information.
- Build checks that keep outputs accurate, traceable and ready for human approval.
- Improve the speed and quality of our client delivery, including fixing processes that aren’t working.
- Join product demonstrations and client discussions, understand what customers need and help turn that into paid work.
- Work with the founder on product priorities and the commercial direction of our AI services.
Who should apply Experienced developers, recent graduates, self-taught builders and people changing careers are all welcome.
If AI has disrupted your career or your role has been made redundant, we want to hear from you. Your technical skills, industry knowledge and experience still matter. We’re looking for someone who can put them to work building what comes next.
You don’t need a particular degree, a previous executive title or years of experience with a specific AI framework. University projects, independent work and open-source contributions can demonstrate your ability just as well as a conventional CV.
You should be comfortable
- Showing something you’ve built or significantly improved.
- Working with code, APIs and automation tools where the task requires them.
- Testing AI outputs rather than assuming they’re correct.
- Explaining technical decisions clearly to people without a technical background.
- Taking ownership of work in a small, founder-led business.
- Understanding a customer’s problem and helping demonstrate the value of a solution.
You must be familiar with Australian government processes, procurement and tender submissions. That knowledge may come from employment, study or practical project experience. Applicants of all ages and backgrounds are welcome.
Location and security requirements
You can work from our Brisbane headquarters, choose a hybrid arrangement or work fully remotely. Australian-based applicants are preferred, and Australians living overseas are welcome to apply, subject to client requirements and suitable working arrangements.
Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government security clearance is desirable, as future work may involve Defence or other security-sensitive projects. An existing clearance is welcome but is not required to apply. Some projects may require work to be performed in Australia.
What we offer
- A$145,000 annual salary plus statutory superannuation.
- Additional sales-performance incentives.
- Flexible working: Brisbane HQ, hybrid or fully remote, subject to project requirements.
- Direct involvement in building a product and shaping its direction.
- Responsibility for work that reaches real clients.
How to apply Send your CV or LinkedIn profile, a short introduction and an example of your work. Tell us what you contributed and why you’d like to build with Totenda.
- You don’t need to match every aspect of the role perfectly. If you have the relevant Australian government knowledge and can show us your practical ability, we’d like to hear from you.
