Younity is looking for a creative and skilled bike mechanic/technician to join our PUSH! team!

About PUSH!

PUSH! is Younity’s hands-on, youth development program that’s all about building confidence, skills, and brighter futures — one bike at a time. We run practical learning experiences in schools and communities where young people build their own bikes, gain mechanical know-how, and walk (or ride!) away with a real sense of achievement.

About the role

We’re looking for a Bicycle Technician who’s keen to be more than a mechanic. You’ll manage our Deception Bay workshop, work as part of the project team delivering school-based sessions, and be out and about in the PUSH! Van visiting skate parks and other youth spaces.

You don’t need to be a youth worker — but you do need to enjoy being around young people and be willing to share your knowledge in a way that makes them feel capable and included. Whether it’s showing someone how to tighten a brake cable or helping them build an entire bike from scratch, you’ll play a vital role in assisting them to learn real, transferable skills.

Key responsibilities:

- Maintain and manage our bike workshop at Deception Bay and the mobile PUSH! van

- Inspect, repair, and prepare donated bikes so they’re safe and fit for purpose

- Deliver structured and informal bike-building activities with young people (alongside our team)

- Support our school-based and community programs by tutoring basic to advanced mechanical skills

- Work closely with the youth development team to create engaging, hands-on learning sessions

- Help keep our equipment, tools, and parts in good working order

We’re looking for someone who has:

- Previous experience in a bicycle mechanic, technician, or customer service role (bike industry preferred)

- Strong knowledge of bikes and a love for cycling

- Good communication skills and a friendly, helpful attitude

- The ability to work both independently and as part of a fun, collaborative team

- A “can do” approach and a passion for sharing skills with others

- A current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain one – essential)

Nice to have (but not a dealbreaker):

- Experience tutoring, mentoring, or working with young people in any setting

- Training or workshop facilitation experience

Why work with us?

- You’ll be part of something meaningful that makes a real difference in young people’s lives

- Flexible and supportive team environment

- Get hands-on with a growing and unique program

- Travel around Moreton Bay in our decked-out PUSH! van

- Plenty of laughs, purpose, and pedal-powered goodness

- Based in Deception Bay with travel across Moreton Bay in our mobile PUSH! van

- Casual or Part-Time, 21-35 hours a week (with prospect to grow)

- $37-40 per hour + super + salary packaging

- Start ASAP

To apply:

- Submit CV & cover letter through our website https://www.younity.org.au/about/work-with-us/current-vacancies
