NQ Estimating & Civil Services is seeking a QA Officer to join our team on a casual basis. This role is based in Cairns, QLD and offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to quality assurance and compliance within our construction contracts management operations. As a QA Officer, you will play a vital part in ensuring that our projects meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Your work will directly impact the success of our contracts and the satisfaction of our clients, making this a strategically important position within our organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Conducting quality audits and inspections on construction projects to ensure compliance with contract specifications and industry standards
- Developing and implementing quality assurance procedures and checklists for ongoing use across projects
- Documenting quality issues and non-conformances, and working with project teams to implement corrective actions
- Liaising with contractors, subcontractors, and site supervisors to ensure quality standards are maintained throughout project delivery
- Preparing detailed quality assurance reports and maintaining comprehensive records of inspections and audits
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in quality processes and procedures
- Ensuring compliance with relevant Australian Standards, building codes, and contractual requirements
- Supporting contract management activities by providing quality-related documentation and evidence
What we're looking for
- Proven experience in quality assurance within the construction or civil engineering industry
- Sound knowledge of Australian Standards relevant to construction and civil works
- Robust understanding of contracts management principles and how quality relates to contract compliance
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify deficiencies or non-conformances
- Proficiency in report writing and documentation procedures
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders on site
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple audits or inspections simultaneously
- Relevant qualifications such as a diploma in Building and Construction or QA certification (preferred)
- Current knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations relevant to construction sites
- Drfa experience necessary
