Moonah

OnePoint Education Services at Moonah, TAS, is an international education and migration consultancy that has spent around seven years guiding students, skilled professionals, families and employers along their study and visa pathways to Australia. The firm is run as a partnership from its head office in Parramatta, NSW, with a second Australian office in Moonah, Hobart, and branches in Lahore and Sargodha, Pakistan. Its education team looks after course selection, admissions to universities, TAFEs and colleges, student visas, health cover and Qualified Year placements through partner institutions in Australia, the United Kingdom and Europe, while its migration team advises on skilled, employer-sponsored, family, visitor and graduate visas, the National Innovation visa and Administrative Review Tribunal matters.

An ICEF accredited agency, OnePoint is built on straight, honest advice and carefully prepared applications, with each client keeping one point of contact from the first counselling session through to visa grant and settlement. The firm is now looking for an experienced Accountant to join the team.

Accountant | OnePoint Education Services | Moonah, TAS

Key Responsibilities

- Run the day-to-day finance function across both Australian offices, from receipting client fees and paying suppliers to payroll, bank reconciliations and month-end close, and review where the money is earned and spent by office and by service line, so the partners can see which parts of the business are carrying their weight and where costs need tightening.
- Set up, run and refine the firm's accounting platform, including a chart of accounts that brings the Parramatta, Moonah, Lahore and Sargodha records together, and guide the partners on choosing and connecting cloud accounting,

payroll and payment software that can link with the client and case management tools used by the counselling team.
- Prepare and lodge the partnership's annual income tax return, activity statements and related PAYG withholding and superannuation obligations, and advise the partners on the tax and financial consequences of how the firm is structured, how its plans are funded and how the Australian offices and overseas branches deal with one another.
- Design and enforce sensible internal controls over client receipts, refunds, payment approvals and access to the bank accounts, test that they are being followed in every office, and look into any unexplained transaction or suspected fraud, reporting the findings and recommended fixes to the partners.
- Work with the partners to set each office's annual budget and to write the accounting policies the firm follows, including how fees received ahead of a visa or admission outcome are recorded, how shared costs are allocated between offices and how spending is approved, then monitor results against budget through the busy intake periods and the quieter months.
- Look after the firm's money: forecast cash flow, manage working capital and the operating accounts, control transfers to and from the overseas branches, and model the likely cash impact and risk exposure of larger commitments such as a new office, a fit-out or a significant technology investment before the partners sign off.
- Produce the year-end financial statements and monthly management accounts for the partners,

along with the financial information required by the ATO and any other regulator, lender or external body, checking that every figure is accurate, supported and compliant with Australian tax and reporting requirements before it leaves the firm.
- Carry out financial reviews and internal audits of branch records, and prepare reports and advice whenever the partners consider growth options, such as buying or merging with another agency, opening a new location or raising finance, including due diligence on the other party's accounts, an honest view of its solvency and the tax implications of the deal.
- Act as the firm's point of contact with its bank, external auditor and the ATO, keep tax and lodgement deadlines on track, and show counsellors and office staff the correct procedures for invoicing, receipting and expense claims.

Education and Experience

- At least 1 year of relevant experience in an accounting role, ideally covering taxation, financial reporting and reconciliations.
- A Bachelor degree or higher qualification (AQF Bachelor Degree or higher), preferably in accounting, commerce or a related discipline.

Personal attributes

- Accurate and methodical, with genuine care for detail when handling client money and records
- Discreet and trustworthy with confidential client, staff and business information
- A team player who enjoys working in a small, multicultural team spread across several locations

Salary & Hours

- Permanent, full-time position, typically 38 hours per week
- $75,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation per annum

If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you! Please be sure to combine a covering letter addressing the key criteria set out above as the first page of your resume.

To be considered for this role you will need to be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
