About the role

EightyTwenty Food Braddon is seeking an experienced Barista to join our team in Braddon, ACT. This is a full time position that combines hands-on barista expertise with supervisory responsibilities, making it an ideal opportunity for someone looking to progress their career in the hospitality and café management sector. You will be based at our café location in Braddon and will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer experiences whilst overseeing daily café operations.

This role offers the perfect balance of practical coffee craft and team leadership, ensuring our café maintains the highest standards of service and product quality.

Key responsibilities

- Preparing and serving high-quality espresso-based beverages and other café drinks to exacting standards

- Managing café operations during assigned shifts, including stock rotation, cash handling and daily opening and closing procedures

- Supervising and mentoring café staff, providing coaching and support to ensure consistent service delivery

- Training team members on barista techniques, customer service standards and café systems

- Maintaining a clean, hygienic and organised café environment in compliance with food safety regulations

- Managing inventory levels, ordering supplies and monitoring stock usage

- Handling customer inquiries and complaints professionally, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty

- Contributing to café marketing initiatives and promotional activities

- Assisting with scheduling, rostering and staff performance management

- Maintaining Point of Sale (POS)



systems and ensuring accurate financial transactions

What we're looking for

- Proven barista experience with strong espresso machine knowledge and the ability to consistently produce high-quality beverages

- Current or equivalent food safety and hygiene certification

- Demonstrated supervisory or team lead experience in a hospitality or café environment

- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport and create positive experiences

- Strong organisational and time management abilities, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously
- A keen eye for detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation

- Proficiency with café POS systems and payment processing
- The ability to work flexibly, including early mornings, weekends and public holidays as required

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and support team members

- Passion for specialty coffee and the café industry

- Current RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certification is preferred, if applicable to your role
