About Mama Ally Espresso

Mama Ally Espresso is a Filipino-Australian Cafe business serving a combination of Australian cafe favourites and authentic Filipino cuisine. We operate two locations: our cafe in Speers Point and our coffee shop at the University of Newcastle.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Cafe Manager to oversee the daily operations of both locations, lead our team, maintain a high standards of customer service and support the continued growth of our business.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the daily operations of both locations at Speers Point and the University of Newcastle.
- Supervise, train, roster and coordinate cafe staff to ensure efficient operations across both branches.
- Oversee opening and closing procedures, customer service standards and day-to-day workflow.
- Monitor sales performance, operating costs, labour expenses and profitabillity.
- Manage stock control, inventory, purchasing and supplier relationships.
- Ensure food safety, work place health and safety, hygiene and relevant regulatory requirements are maintained.
- Maintain consistent food and beverage quality, presentation and service standards across both locations.
- Handle customer enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve sales, customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
- Prepare staff schedules, operational reports and other management records.
- Coordinate promotions and marketing activities to support business growth.
- Ensure both locations comply with company policies and operational procedures.





Skills and Qualifications The successful candidate should demonstrate:

- Proven experience in cafe, restaurant or hospitality management (3 years minimum experience required).
- Highly skilled and efficient in coffee making and latte art skills. Must be able to jump in and help during busy periods.
- Strong leadership, organisation and communication skills.
- A real passion for coffee and customer service.
- Knowledge of Filipino cuisine and culture.
- Ability to inspire and motivate the team while maintaining a fun, productive and inclusive environment.
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and stay calm under pressure.
- Has a valid RSA.
- Has a valid driver’s license.
