Casual Landscape Labourer – Construction & Maintenance

Brisbane | 2–4 Days Per Week | Ongoing Casual Work | $35–$42/hr Like working outdoors, staying active and getting stuck into a job? We’re looking for a reliable, hard-working person to join our landscaping team.

Definition Landscape & Design is an established Brisbane landscaping company working on high-quality residential projects. Our team of 12 works across landscape design, construction and ongoing garden maintenance.

We’re looking for a Casual Landscape Labourer to support both our construction and garden maintenance teams.

No landscaping experience? No problem. We’re more interested in finding someone with a good attitude, solid work ethic and willingness to learn. If you bring those things, we can help you develop the practical skills.

What You’ll Be Doing

No two days are exactly the same. You’ll work alongside experienced landscapers across a mix of construction projects and established residential gardens.

The work can include

- Digging, excavation and general site preparation
- Moving soil, mulch, gravel and building materials
- Assisting with retaining walls, paving, concrete and drainage
- Helping install irrigation and planting out gardens
- Lawn care, mulching and general garden maintenance
- Loading trailers and collecting materials
- Keeping sites clean and organised
- Setting up tools and equipment and helping the team get the job done

It’s hands-on, physical work outdoors, with plenty of variety between construction and maintenance.

What We’re Looking For

We’re more interested in your attitude and reliability than your experience. You’ll be a good fit if you:

- Turn up on time and are ready to work
- Have a good work ethic and aren’t afraid of physical work
- Are physically fit and comfortable working outdoors
- Listen, follow instructions and work safely
- Take pride in doing a job properly
- Are keen to learn practical skills and improve

- Are professional and respectful around clients and their homes

Essential requirements:

- Current manual driver’s licence
- Full Australian working rights
- Construction White Card, or willingness to obtain one

Previous landscaping, construction, horticulture or labouring experience is a bonus, but isn’t essential. Experience towing trailers or using construction and landscaping equipment would also be an advantage.

Hours & Flexibility

This is an ongoing casual role generally offering around 2–4 weekdays per week. It could be particularly well suited to a university student looking for consistent work around their timetable, or someone with other commitments who doesn’t necessarily want a traditional five-day working week.

We can work around your availability to establish reasonably consistent working days. If you have greater availability during university breaks or at other times of the year, there may be opportunities to work additional days or potentially full weeks, depending on our workload.

What You Get

- $35–$42/hr casual, depending on experience and capability
- Consistent ongoing work of approximately 2–4 days per week
- Flexibility around university or other commitments
- Opportunity for additional days when your availability increases
- Hands-on experience across landscaping, construction and horticulture
- Variety across different projects and properties
- Uniform, PPE, tools and equipment provided
- Opportunity to learn from experienced landscapers
- An established team and business operating since 2009

We take pride in the quality of our work and are looking for someone who can become a reliable part of the team over the longer term.

Interested?

If you’re reliable, keen to work and happy to get your hands dirty, we’d like to hear from you. Apply through SEEK or email Simon at [email protected].

Please include a brief introduction, any relevant experience and your typical weekly availability.
