An opportunity exists for an experienced estimator / quantity surveyor to join an established construction company, working on a range of construction projects up to $40 million.

This role is ideally suited to a commercially astute construction skilled with robust technical estimating skills, a detailed understanding of construction costs and the ability to prepare accurate, competitive and commercially viable tenders.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the pre-construction and commercial functions of the business, contributing to tender strategy, cost planning, procurement and project profitability.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, tender submissions and construction budgets.
- Undertake comprehensive quantity take-offs and prepare bills of quantities (BOQs).
- Analyse architectural, structural and services drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
- Obtain, assess and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Prepare trade by trade cost breakdowns, scope comparisons and tender reconciliations.
- Identify cost risks, scope gaps, discrepancies and value-engineering opportunities.
- Develop cost plans, feasibility estimates and budget assessments.
- Assist with subcontractor procurement, commercial negotiations and cost control.
- Review contract documentation, inclusions, exclusions and commercial qualifications.
- Maintain estimating databases, rates, cost benchmarks and historical project data.




- Work closely with senior management to develop competitive tender strategies and maximise commercial outcomes.

About You

You will be an experienced estimating or quantity surveying professional with a strong understanding of construction methodology, trade pricing and cost management.

You will ideally demonstrate:

- Proven experience in construction estimating, quantity surveying or a combined role.
- Strong capabilities in quantity take-offs, BOQs and detailed cost planning.
- The ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and tender packages.
- Experience obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- A sound understanding of construction contracts, trade scopes and commercial risk.
- Strong numerical, analytical and negotiation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.
- Proficiency in relevant estimating software, digital take-off tools and Microsoft Excel.
