About Us Ready to swap the tools for the office? Or want to build on your first couple of years in estimating?
Fire Shield Services is a WA-owned fire protection contractor based in Joondalup. Since 2012 we've grown to a team of around 50, looking after fire systems for local governments, aged care providers, universities, utilities and major commercial sites across Perth.
We're growing our Estimating team and are looking for a Junior Estimator to price defect works across our Wet and Dry departments.
About the role
You'll turn the defects our technicians find during routine servicing into accurate,
competitive quotes — and help get them approved and fixed. Working alongside our Estimating Manager and Wet and Dry Services Managers, you'll:
- Prepare defect quotes for wet systems (hydrants, hose reels, sprinklers, pumps, backflow) and dry systems (detection, panels, EWIS, emergency lighting, portables)
- Support the Department Managers with their quoting requirements, including minor works and variations
- Get out to site to inspect defects, measure up, take photos and gather what you need to price the job properly
- Liaise with clients and facility managers to explain defects, clarify scope and follow up on quotes
- Keep everything accurate and up to date in Uptick
About you
- Fire Experience is essential — Wet or Dry
- 1–2 years in estimating, OR you're currently on the tools as a fire technician and ready to take the next step into the office
- Good working knowledge of AS 1851 and common system defects
- Comfortable reading plans and drawings
- Strong attention to detail and solid Excel skills
- Confident communicating with clients, in person and in writing
- Current WA driver's licence and White Card
Experience with Uptick, Cert II/III Fire Protection, or exposure to both Wet and Dry services will put you ahead.
