Qualified Refrigeration & HVAC Mechanic

Northside Heating & Cooling is seeking an experienced and reliable Qualified Refrigeration & HVAC Mechanic to join our growing team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair of residential and commercial air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

We are looking for a motivated tradesperson who takes pride in their workmanship, can work independently, and delivers a high standard of customer service.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, service, maintain and repair residential and commercial HVAC systems.
- Work on split systems, multi-head systems, ducted reverse-cycle units, VRF/VRV systems and associated mechanical equipment.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical and refrigeration faults.
- Carry out preventative maintenance and system performance testing.
- Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, pressure testing and commissioning.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams and manufacturer specifications.
- Complete accurate job reports, service records and documentation.
- Communicate professionally with customers, builders and other trades.
- Supervise and assist apprentices when required.
- Ensure all work complies with Australian Standards, safety regulations and company procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

- Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (or equivalent).




- Current ARC Refrigerant Handling Licence.
- Relevant electrical licence for the work being undertaken.
- Current Victorian driver's licence.
- Experience installing, servicing and troubleshooting HVAC equipment.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.

Highly Regarded

- Experience with commercial and residential HVAC, VRF/VRV and mechanical services.
- Experience with Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Hisense and other major HVAC brands.
- Experience with heat pumps, ventilation and control systems.
- Experience supervising apprentices or coordinating installation teams.
