Fathering Support Worker - Dads on Track Program

Level: 5.1

Salary: $104,478 per annum/pro rata

Status: Permanent Full Time

Tangentyere Council Aboriginal Corporation (TCAC) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation, providing services and running social enterprise activities for the benefit of Aboriginal people from the Alice Springs Town Camps, urban Alice Springs, and Central Australia.

The Dads on Track program sits within Tangentyere Council’s Family Violence Prevention Division (FVPD). The FVPD works across all stages of domestic, family, and sexual violence (DFSV) intervention, from primary prevention to recovery and healing. This division aims to create comprehensive, culturally relevant, and effective responses to DFSV, supporting both individuals and communities throughout the entire journey of prevention, intervention, and healing.

The division is governed by the Tangentyere Women’s and Men’s Family Safety Groups, ensuring that all efforts are led and informed by the lived experiences and guidance of local Aboriginal people. This cultural governance feeds into all aspects of our work, ensuring that our programs are both effective and culturally safe.

The primary aim of the Fathering Support Worker position is to promote safe, responsive and respectful fathering that supports the safety and wellbeing of children and families. The role provides an early intervention approach to preventing and reducing harm associated with domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV), including supporting fathers to develop nurturing and gender-equitable parenting practices.

The Fathering Support Worker will deliver individual and group work within Tangentyere Men’s Specialist Services and in community settings. The role will engage fathers through targeted fathering content and support them to strengthen their parenting skills, relationships and capacity to contribute to safe and healthy family environments, while prioritising the safety and wellbeing of children and victim-survivors.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, organised and creative individual with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
