Smithburg All Day Diner is looking for a friendly, reliable Front of House Supervisor to join our team in the heart of South Melbourne Market.

This is a part-time position offering 30 hours per week. Weekend availability is essential.

You’ll take a hands-on role in running service, supporting the team and making sure every customer feels welcome.

Your responsibilities will include

- Greeting and seating customers
- Taking orders and serving food and drinks
- Working the bar and preparing drinks
- Processing payments and handling cash
- Opening and closing the restaurant
- Supporting the front of house team during service
- Handling customer enquiries and resolving issues professionally
- Cleaning and keeping the restaurant tidy and ready for service

We’re looking for someone with hospitality experience, confident customer service skills and a positive attitude. You’ll be comfortable taking initiative, keeping organised during busy periods and leading by example. Previous supervisory experience, is preferred but not required. Must have a current RSA.

The ideal candidate has

- At least two years’ experience in customer-facing roles, such as hospitality or retail, including at least one year in a restaurant front-of-house role.
- A positive, confident attitude and a friendly, welcoming manner.
- Confidence handling payments, counting cash accurately and balancing the till.
- A responsible, reliable approach and the initiative to keep things running smoothly.
- Transparent communication skills and the ability to work well with and support a small team.
- The ability to stay calm and organised during busy service.
- Availability to work weekends.

Barista and bar experience would be a big plus, but aren’t essential. If you‘re really interested in the postion we are open to either changing this position to a casual part time position (ranging from 25-40 hours per week) or a full time position if job security is needed.

Pay: $69,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
